Like several reviewers I booked this as a Top Secret deal via Lastminute.com. The operator I spoke to told me that the hotel had very good Tripadvisor reviews so I was a bit disappointed when I actually read them once I had booked.
However our experience was perfectly fine for the price we paid. As many others have said it is difficult to see how this is a 5* hotel these days but we didn't a pay 5* price. As a base for exploring Rome for a couple of nights before a cruise it was fine and we would probably return.
The good -
Location
Our room was large and fairly well equipped, it was a pleasant surprise to have a small balcony.
Breakfast was good for an Italian hotel.
The not so good -
Lifts were very slow and I found the bed rather uncomfortable.
The computers had failed as we were trying to check out which led to a fair amount of chaos !

We travel a great deal internationally for both work and pleasure. We decided to try the Hotel Ambasciatori in Rome for the most recent visit. The hotel is wonderful!...sparkling and clean, marble baths, upholstered walls, and beautiful vases of fresh flowers (many of which are orchids) are spread throughout the rooms and public areas. The breakfast is phenomenal...a huge assortment of fresh fruits (melons, peaches, plums); cooked creamy eggs, bacon, sausages for those who like a heartier meal to start the day; large tables of fresh pastries, cakes, fruit tarts; wonderful coffee and expresso. The bed and linens felt as if we were sleeping on a cloud after a "hard" day of discovering Roman ruins. One feels welcome from the first step on the outside sidewalk...a doorman is present immediately to say "buon giorno" and to help carry the luggage. The staff at the front desk checked us in immediately and were very helpful in suggesting restaurants and places of interest. The concierge is an extremely up beat person and very professional.

We will be staying at the Ambasciatori for our upcoming trips to Rome!

Room Tip: We had rooms on the street side and heard absolutely no noise from either cars or from the nearby Hard Rock Café.

I stayed here for. 3 nights sept 11th - 14th room 126

It's location is fab for all attractions, the room was very basic and was one of the older rooms, it has a balcony on the bathroom that was great, the room was very worn with lots of scuff marks on the wall, the shower over shot the bath so the floor got very wet.

The staff were really friendly, breakfast was ok, nothing special thought, the 3 mornings I was there I had toast and bacon as the eggs and sausage didn't look great.

The hotel bar price is very high, €24 for 2 glasses of prosecco, you can go next door to the Hard Rock Cafe and have a bottle of the same for €18 and sit outside.

I believe the hotel is being re furnished however it is still very very basic in all areas, it's a good 3 star hotel but no where near 5 when you have other luxury hotels so close.

I booked through last minute and paid a high amount for this hotel, if we had booked direct I could have got the same for a lot less!

Overall I was not overwhelmed with the hotel, the best thing was the location and not the interior of the place

Just stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, booked as a secret hotel. The hotel is perfectly located on a lovely leafy boulevard within walking distance of several of the main sights and only 5mins from the metro. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. As several other reviwers have said, the breakfasts were excellent, especially as we sat out on the terrace. The rooms were a little dated, but clean with modern bathrooms. Would recommend it.

Fantastic hotel, large, very spacious room with 2 balconies overlooking Via Veneto.
Food fantastic, extensive breakfast menu including champagne.
Only 2 min walk from nearest Metro Stop (Barberini), great transport links.
Location fantastic you can walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese and the Panatheon easily.
