Went with mum and sister for 3 days and booked flight and hotel through lastminute.com. It was one of those arrangements that you don't actually know the hotel until you have actually done the deal.

We were not dissapointed, rooms, food, facilities and staff were all first class and it made a great base for exploring. Situated directly accross from U.S. Embassy prices of nearby bars and restaurants were on the high side - 18 Euros for a G&T but hey there are no pockets in shrouds! If you are prepared to walk a little off the main drag there are some less expensive eateries to be found. Would definately return.

Spot on location.
The hotel has clearly seen better days, but the staff did their best.
We were put in a smoking room, but there were no alternatives, it was really grim.
They found another room for the other two nights and it was much nicer, although still not "5star" really.
Still cost a fair bit, even as a last-minute "surprise"
The builders started work on the floor above our smoking room at 7am, you could not sleep through this noise.
Beds were huge

Room Tip: No smoking, and avoid the upper floors if you can, as the builders were on the top floor when we sta...

My sister and I stayed here on recommendation from our travel agent. We were underwhelmed to say the least. The rooms were clean, but definitely needed a makeover. My sisters bed sounded like it was going to break everytime she moved. We should have asked for another room, and I would recommend doing so. Every morning from 6am we heard shuffling around, like moving furniture and construction. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the front desk was very friendly and helpful, although concierge was rarely at the desk. The location was great, walking distance to the Trevi Fountain-15 minutes. You could walk many other places from there as well, but it took a little longer.

Room Tip: Do not hesitate to ask for another room if it is too noisey, or the beds are like cots

We booked this hotel to take an elderly relative on a dream trip to Rome. The booking was made via the last minute.com surprise hotel option under the description of five star luxury on Via Veneto. This is wholly misleading and I would rank this place no better than a two star. The one positive is that it was on Via Veneto in a decent location.
We arrived in the evening and we were shown two rooms. The first room we were taken to was absolutely filthy, run down, had stains throughout the room and was totally depressing.
We immediately complained to which the receptionist smiled and offered an alternative room which was marginally cleaner. My sense was that he knew full well that the first room offered was sub-standard. The rooms we ended up with were both right next to industrial air conditioning units so it made for an uncomfortable three nights sleep. The style of the rooms I would describe as basic and tired. Lots of stained walls.
Away from the rooms, the public areas are OK. The curtains lhowever ook like they need a wash and from what I could see, there are stains on nearly all walls. Breakfast was satisfactory.
To cap it all off, my wife has several bites all over her back as a memento for our one and only visit to the Ambasciatori. I will carry out more thorough research next time.

An independent tour to Rome was successfully booked and enjoyed with Gate1Travel. We choose to upgrade our trip by choosing the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel in Rome. Communications and planning was smooth with Gate1Travel. Ambasciatori Palace is located in a safe area with ability to walk to sites and dining. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet service and selections were terrific. Concierge service at the hotel was excellent in assisting with questions, directions, tours and transportation services. Definitely would recommend to those traveling to Rome.

Room Tip: When in Rome, choose no less than 4 star accommodations.

Stayed for 3 nights in September for my birthday. Despite noting on the booking it was for a birthday, we didnt get any extras as other people had but not an issue for us.

Arrived at 1pm and our room was ready for us. Found our way up (4th floor) and the smell as you opened the door was very very smoky. It was like the previous occupants had been smoking in it, which is not permitted in Rome. We rang down to reception and within 10 minutes the porter came to fetch us and showed us to another room. He agreed it did not smell good in the first room.

We were then showed to a room on the 2nd floor. Much nicer room (214), red wallpaper, high ceilings, very grand looking.

Rooms are cleaned daily and the toiletries are replaced daily as well, even if you havent finished the previous ones.

All staff are very friendly and accomodating of any requests.

Breakfast is fabulous, I don't know what people are moaning about (I assume for the English its the lack of any baked beans). Cooked breakfast is great - bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, tomatoes and hash browns. Continental breakfast too, fresh fruit (melon/kiwi/etc), cereals, 3 kinds of juice and then a massive table of bread, croissants, cakes and pastries. If breakfast is included in your rates its a bargain, if not its 20 euro per person, which is definitely not worth it! Served between 7am and 10am (or 10:30 I cant remember). Sat on the balcony a couple of times which was lovely although there can be a lot of bees.

No problems with any noise the first 2 nights, but on the third night I was woken at 2am to very loud music which went on until around 4am. I think it must have been the Hard Rock Cafe below. My friend slept through it all though! This was the only thing that put a slight damper on my stay so if we stayed again I would ensure I had a higher floor.

I would return to this hotel for a decent price. Yes its not UK/American 5*, its Italian 5*. This puts it at a UK equivalent of 3-4* stars and for this rating, its spot on. Location is simply fabulous, close to buses that get you all over the city. Many of the major sights are within a 30min walk so you cant go wrong if you are looking for a centrally located hotel.

Room Tip: High floor if you are a light sleeper

Picked this through 'Last Minute' for a our first wedding anniversary as a surprise for my husband - and a surprise we got!. Read some of the reviews and thought some people were being picky, they are not. When we arrived, the reception area was immaculate and beautiful, lots of marble, glass etc, whilst walking to the room, 'behind the scenes' was a different story. the decor is 'interesting' with black marks along the wall - the sort you would get if a suitcase or something was rubbed along it.
The first room that we got to also had these black marks that stretched over a metre long in some places, there were holes in the wall and chunks of wood missing out of the floor, NOT what you would expect to see in a so called 5* hotel!
We asked to move to another room, the man on reception seemed somewhat annoyed that we had complained and I also pointed out that it was not a very good start to our trip, he looked on the system to find another room, which was a little bit better than the first so we took it - we were in Rome for 4 days and did not want to spend all of my time complaining about rooms!
The first evening that we were there, we could not get the hot water to work - after a long day, then just wanting to chill out over dinner, this is all we wanted to do. Maintenance called, and as soon as he got there, it miraculously started working! The same happened the next morning, we were due to be at a meeting point 7:30am for the start of a trip, the consierge came up as maintenance had not started, only to be told there was basically nothing he could do, we had to have a cold shower.
The bath also had a so called 'jaccuzi' system in it, but I dared not turn it on for the limescale that had built uo around the jets - whilst on the subject of the bath, the silicone round the edge was as black as you like
If you are looking to charge cameras etc up in the room, the only electrical sockets we could find were where the bedside lamps were, tucked almost behind the bed, it is almost as though they would want to charge you more for using more electric!
Over all, a real let down to my first and probably last time in Rome as it was so expensive, we are currently seeking compensation from Last Minute for this, this hotel should be taken off their website.

Room Tip: I do not know what the so called 'Suites' are like in this hotel but the basic rooms they of...
