“Nice location & enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

We arrived early on a Saturday morning, & while our room wasn't quite ready, our concierge/front desk receptionist informed us that it would be ready in an hour. We had a suite on the 6th floor, so she strongly suggested to wait for it as it will be worth it - she was right. The view from our balcony was just wonderful of the ancient roman wall & borghese gardens. The street (via veneto), while it can be busy at times, it didn't keep us up at night with the noise - from the 6th floor, the noise was negligible.
Positives :
1. Friendly staff at restaurant for our breakfast buffets. They were always nice, polite, helpful & prompt. The quality of the buffet was also quite good. They had both hot & cold foods - fruits, vegetables, deli meats/cheeses, pastries, along with different choices of juices, water & even offered prosecco. While some may complain about the bacon being fatty, this is just typical of what we encounter in europe, where cuts are thicker than the typical US version. It may also be just a preference - streaky/chewy vs crispy/burnt. But the sausages were good. There were also scrambled eggs & omelettes offered, so the buffet will satisfy all tastes.
2. Nice, quiet, higher end location. The hotel is within 10-15 mins walk to the Spanish Steps, Borghese Gallery, & subways/metro. While the eateries on via veneto cater to tourists, there are also plenty of good roman eateries nearby off it.
3. Suites are a very good size, & the balcony is a great plus.
Negatives :
1. The doormen are touch & go. When we arrived on 1/26, the young doorman didn't even bother to open the door for us, once we told him we could handle our 2 luggages. Really ?...you have to be asked to open the door for us ? However, the doorman in the evening, was friendly & opened the door for us as soon as he saw us approaching, & we didn't even have luggage to pull !
The doormen need to have better training with this, & it needs to be consistent. For a Marriott of this level, we expected more. And guests remember staff who give just a little extra.
2. The size of bathroom counter. While the size of the bathroom was fine, & expected in european hotels, we wish the counter was a little longer. Otherwise, the bidet/toilet/shower were great.
3. The roof terrace was closed.
4. A/C unit noise was bad especially the 1st night. It improved during the rest of our stay, but the noise needs to be fixed in the 6th flr jr. suite - not acceptable.

Overall, a wonderful stay in enchanting Rome. We liked this location, but it's in an exclusive area of Rome, so expect higher costs.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite - well worth it.

Only reason rating is not excellent is due to Noisy room facing road. Overall everything is great with Service, Staff, Location, breakfast and bar food. Closer to two Metro stations (Spagna or Barberini) and walking distance (a KM or so) to Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, and others.

Room Tip: Try to get room not facing the road as there is a speed bump, ped x and corner you will be hearing v...

hotel is just abt ok - not what you'd expect from a Marriot chain..but just ok - Rooms are pretty small, considering we flew in from Dubai, UAE - service is pretty decent....good view over all. Decent buffet / food.
Good food street....pretty decent area, but expensive..considering other areas of Rome.
Concierge is pretty helpful - and the tours are great - small & short, precise to the point...can be arranged same day through the concierge.
over all just average, you have to pay for the internet >_<

This past summer (August), my wife and I stayed here for three nights. This hotel is in a great location. You can walk to many restaurants and the bus is a few blocks away. We heard so much about their breakfast on the terrace, but was disappointed because the terrace was closed for renovation. I wish they had made us aware of this prior to our stay. We chose this hotel over the Boscolo because we heard so much about the views from the terrace.

Room Tip: Make sure you are persistent about getting the best room available. We were entitled to an upgrade...

We spent 4 nights including New Years at this Marriott hotel on the Via Veneto. We loved the location from which you can walk to the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, barberino plaza for the nearest metro and more affordable shopping and eating. The room was nice but on smaller size. Service was generally indifferent and below the standard expected for a category 8 Marriott. Basically it is only that category due to amazing location. We did enjoy a great New Year's Eve dinner and party on the upper floor with great views over Rome. The fireworks from all over Rome were visible from the outside terrace. The breakfast was not included in our points reservation and costs 30 euros, but hotel gave us a two for one voucher. The cold cuts and smocked salmon were fine but the watery eggs and greasy bacon were revolting!

My husband and I just returned from a 5 day stay in Rome and we were completely satisfied with the Hotel Flora. Excellent staff, Bernardo and Stephania, so very helpful. Bernardo was wonderful at recommending excellent restaurants. Our room was quiet (not facing the front street but a side one) and we enjoyed a King size bed that is so rare in some of the hotels! Breakfast was good and always with smiles and kind words! View incredible. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. Great location. One bit of advice when exchanging currency. Don't use the hotel. There is an ATM just a block away. I was not informed that the hotel would charge for this service.

Room Tip: I emailed the hotel before and asked if possible to be upgraded to a room with a King Size bed and t...

Great hotel. Used points and was upgraded? to one of the rooms with a balcony. Great views of the street, including a little of the city and of the old city wall. Walking distance to the Metro (subway), Capuchen Monastry (interesting "catacombs"), restaurants and shops. A little longer walk to the main streets for shopping as well as the famous fountain. It was a 46 Euro (standard rate) for taxi from the airport and about 10 Euro to the train station.

With elite status, there is a free breakfast, but no lounge. The breakfast was good with hot items.

The room was great. Staff at the front desk was very helpful. We used the business center to print out some items without any issues. The Gym was hidden on the bottom floor - more the equivalent of what I find at a Courtyard, but was good enough.
