“Nice hotel”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

No real complaints, the hotel décor is of a very high standard. Richard the barman is first class. There are some nice restaurants nearby as well. We got a taxi to the Vatican for 15 euros saving the hassle of the Metro. Could have done with a printer being lined up to PC in the foyeur but that's all really. Would recommend this hotel.

We recently spent 7 nights in this centrally located hotel. Our room was beautifully furnished with comfortable beds and bedding. We appreciated just how clean everything was. The first stay there was very quiet. However when we returned for our second stay our room was near the elevator .We found it quite disturbing at times when late night arrivals or early morning departing people talked loudly as they pulled their luggage along the tiled hallways.. The bar and breakfast room staff were particularly attentive and friendly. We felt like "one of the family" by the time our stay there was over. The front desk staff seemed a bit disorganized at times, but all in all we'd return to stay in this hotel again the next time we're in Rome.

Room Tip: choose a room away from the elevator

We stayed 6 nights while in Rome at the BW Canada. Superb service from front desk, bar (Richard was excellent!), housekeeping, and dining staff. Everything was clean. The windows had triple layers, so so very quiet at night.
My only caveat is location. As the metro does not run to many of the visited areas in central Rome (unlike London or Paris, I mean), it means a long walk most days. It is easy to catch the b line and change at Termini (or just walk to termini) to go to the Vatican, but for all else you will have to hoof it or take a cab. We still think it was worth it b/c we don't mind the walks and it is truly a great hotel, especially considering the cost of it compared to other locations. Had we discovered the area N of the Pz d'Republica earlier, we would have explored it more for eating establishments (nicer part of town there, higher end, cleaner, quieter, 15 min walk from hotel).

As others have said, Hotel Canada is a fine hotel. It is tastefully furnished in traditional Roman style and serves an excellent breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Our room, number 222, was spacious and spotlessly clean, however one of our twin beds had an uncomfortable hollow in the mattress.

There is double glazing on all windows. On two previous visits to Hotel Canada traffic noise was not an issue, however this visit, during a warmer than average early April without air conditioning, we were aware of excessive traffic noise from a four-lane road close to the hotel, even with the windows tightly closed. This was continual all night but particularly noticeable in the early morning, during the day and even worse at night at the weekend.

While this is a good hotel make sure you get one of their quiet rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room.

Stayed only 1 night. Easy walking distance from Termini station. Hotel was beautiful, classic somewhat antique style and elegant all at the same time. Very clean and well taken care of. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and in a beautiful room. Fancy tea cups, nice tableware & linens. Our spacious room was also very nice with paintings on the ceiling and a few antique pieces of furniture. Staff was friendly and helpful. I had left my purse on the counter at check in. They brought it to my room within minutes and before I even realized it was missing. I was so thankful. They stored our luggage for the day on checkout. We picked it up later in the afternoon. There is a good local pizza shop just down the street. We hope to come back to Rome someday. When we do, we will return to Best Western Hotel Canada. Good value and highly recommended. My teenage daughter and I stayed in 11 hotels on this trip. BW Hotel Canada in Rome was our favourite.

We were three in the family travelling together, so we had three bedded room. It was nice, spacious and comfortable. The staff was cooperative and specially staff at the breakfast was very nice. The hotel is quite close to to Roma Termini station, which helps you to take train to travel any where in italy, Also hotel is close to metro station. Any all the city tours buses stop is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel and termini station. The hotel is old but full of luxury. I will highly recommened this hotel. All the hotel I stayed in Italy were really nice. I thank all the hotels.

Room Tip: Just go to the hotel

We chose this hotel based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor.

The room is spacious for hotels in Rome at the similar price range and has a nice character to it, unlike the typical new hotels. Also the cleanliness of the room is very good. However, our six foot bed is two single mattresses put together with a noticeable ridge in the middle. Both mattresses were sagging in the middle and we had to put a pillow underneath to provide support.

We requested a quiet room and was assigned a room facing the courtyard, but unfortunately located right next to the staircase and elevator. Being used to sleeping in a quiet room, we still found it too noisy.

Good selections of breakfast provided in a brightly lit area, ample selections of bread, bakery and tea.

Location is very convenient, 5 minutes walk from Termini and a very short walk to Castro Pritorio metro station. The metro nearby actually saved us a few evenings after a whole-day walk.

Staffs are very friendly and helpful, especially Vincent and Richard. However, when I made a query for the rate charged upon check-out, a female staff immediately gave me attitude. She did explain the details of the rate, but at the same time obviously showed that she was irritated having to go through the details with me for less than 2 minutes. After charging the credit card, she totally ignored me and communicated only to my husband. Bad impression on the hotel just right before we left.
