Reviewed March 7, 2014

We found this hotel by chance browsing on the intranet for a quick Rome break-away. It turned out great, perfect location within walking distance from many of the must see sights of Rome. On top hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast and all in all great value for money. I would absolutely be happy to book again. GO Albergo!

Dear Dan P,
Thank you very much for your appreciated review on TA.
We are very pleased you find us “by chance” and you loved our location, staff, rooms and rooftop.
Therefore, we are in a great and perfect location, not far away from the most important place in Rome: p.e. the Pantheon, Trevi fountain, Piazza Navona, Spanish steps and nearly to museums like the Scuderie del Quirinale (starting from 20th March a magnificent exhibition on the life and work of Frida Kahlo, 1907-1954, a symbol of the artistic avant-garde of Mexican culture in the 20th century) and Palazzo delle Esposizioni.
Our English speaking Staff is always pleased to solve Guests’ problem and give suggestions/information about Rome.
The delicious, rich and fresh buffet breakfast is served in a peaceful place - our rooftop -, overlooking Roman top. In the evening, in this relaxing place on the 5th floor, you should have a great cocktail. If you book directly on our official website we are very pleased to offer it!
We hope to welcome you very soon.

Great place in the heart of Rome's tourist attractions -- walk to the Coloseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vitoria Emmanuelle and so on, just off Via Corso.
Been a hostelry for centuries and while it not the "toniest" place in Rome it is excellent value.
Front desk staff are terrific and have excellent recommendations for restaurants in the area that off the tourist map but should be on the gastronome's.
Rooms are spartan but comfortable, views are not exactly terrific, but the view from the roof garden, bar and breakfast rooms are excellent for a place so ensconced in the heart of Rome.
Breakfast is good, coffee via an Italian machine great, via the "American" coffee urn not so terrific.
Great value and recommended. I would certainly return on any future trips to Rome.

Room Tip: I suspect pretty much every room looks across a tiny street to the wall next door. This is in the he...

Dear Darryl G,
We are very pleased you loved our hotel and wrote this kind review.
The hotel is located just in the Rione Monti, in the historical centre of Rome, between the Pantheon and Trevi fountain, not far away from the Spanish Steps, the Forum and the Colosseum, and a lot of other spots. It is in a building of XVIcentury, in a little pedestrian street and its 48 rooms have all soundproof windows to avoid street noise. Some of them, looking to Piazza di Pietra and other inside or overlooking streets all around us.
La terrazza del Cesàri, our rooftop, is opened every morning for our rich and fresh buffet breakfast and in the evening for a drink under the sky.
Our English speaking Staff at the front desk has been well-selected to give good assistance to our Clients. Next time you stay with us, you can have a special offer booking from our official website.

Just now we've spent 3 nights at Albergo Cesari, and it was really perfect place for some days roman holiday.I have found the hotel here in Tripadvisor, and read so much good reviews, that I thought it would be good hotel. And YES! It was a very good choise!
Everything is very close to visit by foot, even we could walk from Vatikan to home.(and we are not a young couple!)You don't need use transport, but there is many buses around there,if you think so,and the tram 8 is very good to go to Trastevere from Piazza Venezia.Must go up to the top of Victor Emanuel Monument by lift! Beautiful panorama of all Rome!
You can find many small restaurant around there,I suggest you the area between Pantheon and Piazza Navona,in the narrow streets, they are not so expensive than others very close to the famous places. You can find tourist menu for 9-12 euro with pizza or pasta and bruscetta and drink or desert. Absolutely enough and fine!
The hotel has airport service, not too cheap, but good,if you don't want to miss the plane..
The room was small, but comfortable and clean, the bath even smaller but ok for some days.It was clean and renewed. But the bed was very comfortable indeed. We asked extra pillow in advance, and they were on the bed when we arrived!
The roof top terrace is lovely, unfortuntely we couldn't use because of rainy weather, but it's very nice view with St.Ignazio church. (you must see its painted ceiling, its perfect baroque illusion!)
Italians are quite loud people,so you have to close the window if you want to sleep at night..:) They like speak and sing laudly at night too,and some motors or cars also come to the square next to the hotel.
We were satisfied with continental breakfast too,(it's till 10.30.a.m!) there is not too much hotels in Rome, where you can find not only sweets for breakfast! (we choose this hotel just for that reason, for example) The staff were friendly and smily, and helpful.
So we had no any problem, all was great and we enjoy all of our staying at Albergo Cesari .I suggest this hotel for everybody who would like to stay in the middle of oldtown.

Dear Fatema1954,
We wish to thank for your great review, that impressed us very much and you are right: a lot of our Guests write a so beautiful reviews that many people pick out us!
The 3 stars hotel is in the heart of the historical centre of Rome – Via di Pietra – near the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain. 10 minutes walking you reach Piazza Venezia and, thanks for wrote it, up to the top of the National Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II using a nice lift, it is possible to see an incredible panorama!
We are also pleased you find the room comfortable and clean, not less important that you appreciated our services, as the airport service or satisfy your request of an extra pillow. Little things that we suppose our Guests love.
La terrazza del Cesàri is really a beautiful place where have the hearty buffet breakfast every morning and a cocktail in the evening. From here it is possible to see the timpano of the Church of Saint Ignazio, with one of the most beautiful painted ceiling in Rome inside.
Our English speaking Staff is pleased to help the Guests, they are very professional and friendly, too. We are happy you appreciated our Staff and we hope to welcome you in a next future.
Booking directly on our official website, it is possible to have a special offer.

This is a lovely little hotel in an excellent location and excellent value for money. Only 5 minutes walk from the Trevi fountain. The rooms were clean and spacious with good strong shutters on the windows which made it nice and quiet for a city centre hotel. The roof top bar/ breakfast room was lovely & the buffet breakfast had a good selection. The only slight down side was it was very warm in the rooms and we couldn't work out how to turn the heating down

Dear Elliotsmum,
Thank you very much for your kind review.
Our location is super, just in a middle way of the Pantheon and Trevi fountain, 10 minutes walking from Spanish Steps and – opposite side - Navona Square. If you take a bus next to us, you reach Vatican City or – opposite side – the Colosseum, the Basilica of Saint Clemente with its spectacular mosaics and frescoes.
The hotel has two type of rooms classic and standard, bookable on our official webpage. All rooms have private bathroom, with hairdryer, shower gel/shampoo, soap and tissues and they have the double glazing on the windows to avoid outside noise, as you wrote. About air conditioning that it is possible to control it: do you ask to our Reception how set it? Next time, please get in touch with our Staff to solve this problem.
We are very proud of the Terrazza del Cesàri, our roof top, where our Guests have their buffet breakfast in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. Just for a good start of a new day and for relaxing after a great day in the Caput Mundi. Beautiful photos available on our official website.
Cleanliness is one of our gap, within good service and courtesy, and we are pleased that all our Staff give you good services.
All the Staff and I wish to welcome you very soon.

We stayed for 3 nights during February 2014 and thought this hotel was great!
Located in the central of Rome in between Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, every sites we intended to visit was within walking distance! Vatican City was about 15-20 minutes walk away. We didn't even use public transport (except transfer to the airport). There are many shops and restaurants nearby and most of them open till late which is great when exploring the area at night. The room size was average but just enough. The bed was large and comfortable to sleep on. There was a large closet and safe in the room. They gave us complimentary water, coffee and tea in the room which was great. The bathroom was on the small, but we managed just fine. Our room was cleaned everyday and they will provide clean sheets and towels if needed. The hotel was located on a smaller street so we didn't have any problems with noise at night, even with the windows opened. The rooftop terrace was very nice and offered a great view. Breakfast was really good as there was always a variety of food to choose from. The service at the hotel was great! The staff are friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The reception was helpful when we asked them about how to get to the airport etc. Overall, the hotel was clean and adequate considering it's age. Good value for money if you want to stay in the centre of everything.

Dear Wanderlust_9x,
Thanks a lot for your great review on TA, where you well describe our hotel.
Our 3 stars hotel is good for a 3 nights stay, above all for its location just in the historical heart of Rome, near Piazza Colonna a piazza at the center of the Rione of Colonna. It is named for the marble Column of Marcus Aurelius which has stood there since 193 CE. The bronze statue of Saint Paul that crowns the column was placed in 1589, by order of Pope Sixtus V.
All around us, shops, restaurants, cafés, museums (just turning the cross, you find Palazzo Cipolla with “Modigliani Soutine and the accursed artists. The Netter collection”) and monuments. You don’t need to take a bus to reach them.
Our 48 comfortable rooms, standard or classic, have all with private bathroom with hairdryer, bath and/or shower, courtesy kit and all with soundproof windows, air conditioning, minibar, safe, satellite TV, direct dial phone and Wi-Fi free. The Albergo Cesàri is pleased to offer a complimentary bottle of mineral water in room on arrival and coffee/tea making facilities. Every morning, the chambermaids clean the rooms and all the hotel.
The rooftop named “La terrazza del Cesàri” is one of the most beautiful place in Rome. In the morning the rich, fresh and natural buffet breakfast is served and in the evening it is possible to drink a glass of wine or cocktails.
We thank again for your review and the Staff and I waiting for your next stay with us: book directly on our official website, with one of our special offer.

We absolutely loved Albergo Cesari. The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The rooftop terrace is great and the breakfast very expansive. The location is perhaps the best part, a mere couple minutes walk from the Trevi fountain and Pantheon, as well as 25-30 ( a very nice walk) to Vatican, etc. and 20-25 to Trastevere. We walked nearly everywhere, taking the bus a couple of times to uphill things such as Galleria Borghese. Everything was wonderful, and we couldn't ask for a better place to have stayed. Thank you!

Dear Jen L,
Your review is so beautiful: thanks a lot!
All our staff is professional and friendly in the mean time. They love realize Guests’ desire, as their gap is to “inject” the Roman feeling.
We are very proud of the Terrazza del Cesàri, our roof top, where our Guests have their buffet breakfast in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. Just for a good start of a new day and for relaxing after a great day in the Caput Mundi.
Actually, the Albergo Cesàri is just in the centre of the town, 5 minutes walking from the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, 10 minutes walking from Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps. If you like to walk it is possible to reach the most important places without using public transport. However, the bus stop is just near of us, on Via del Corso. Ticket bus are at your disposal at the Reception.

The location is really excellent in all points of view: most of historical sites are easy reachable on foot, the hotel is not situated in noisy place (no public traffic here) but one of main bus stop on Via del Corso is in 2 minutes walking distance. Breakfast was rich enough (served from 7 till 10.30 am!), sitting on roof terrace likeable, staff very kind and helpful. Price is reasonable when you book more months in advance (we booked 6 months in advance). Bathroom and wall painting could be in our standard room renovated, but the price for our stay was OK. We can only recommend!

I wish to thank you very much for your kind review regarding the Albergo Cesàri, that has a lot of qualities, as the location. So good, that it is possible to reach the most important places without using public transport, even if they are just near of us!
Our hotel has 48 rooms, including 10 classic, are all with soundproof windows to avoid noise, as you remark. Also, all the rooms have air-conditioning, a complimentary coffee/tea maker, one bottle of mineral water on arrival and the private bathroom may have the shower and/or bathtub. The second floor is the only one for smoker while the other 3 floors are all non-smoking.
The rooftop is surely a place that breaks the heart, with its sunny terrace and beautiful view on Roman roof tops, the “timpano” of Saint Ignazio’s Church, the Statue of Saint Paul on the top of Colomn in Piazza Colonna and the little pink tower where Galileo verified his thesis… In the morning, you taste a good buffet breakfast and in the evening sip a glass of wine admiring the stars.
Our English speaking Staff at the front desk has been well-selected to give good assistance to our Guests and I’m very pleased you appreciated our courtesy.
I hope to welcome you very soon and within all the Staff, I suggest to book your next stay with us, directly on our official website where you can find a special offer.
