“Good location, good staff, good hotel!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2011

LOCATION - fantastic location in Rome. very central, and can take the city tour bus just down the street from the hotel (about 5 min walk). close to a number of great restaurants (local, not tourist traps) and close to that famous fountain.

STAFF - polite, helpful, and courteous. spoke English fairly well.

ROOM - rooms were a bit small, but were quite clean. decor looked like it was from the 80's. bathroom was fine. they supply soap and shampoo, but nothing else really if I recall correctly. beds were a bit on the firm side. i can't remember if there was free Wifi, but there was a computer with internet access to use down in the lobby which was fairly convenient.

BREAKFAST - there was a nice rooftop breakfast area, with a breakfast buffet. a nice, but small selection of breakfast foods, mainly cereals, pastries, and a handful of savoury items. excellent coffee though (like all of Italy it seems). i believe the breakfast was included in the package, and well worth waking up for, even though we only enjoyed it once or twice out of our 4 night stay.

Recently stayed here 5 nights. Could not be in a better location. Convenient to Panthon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Via del Croso. Vatican City was a short cab ride away, or about a 25 minute walk. Please remember this is an older building, and not a five star property. But for location, service and helpfullness of staff (particularly Tommasso and Manuel), this is an excellent choice. The staff here made what was a good trip to Rome a great trip. Very helpful in calling cabs, recommending restaurants, even providing us with breakfast boxes one morning when we left early for a day of sightseeing. We also enjoyed having breakfast on the rooftop terrace, with a great view of St. Ignatius Church. The rooms were cleaned quickly and thoroughly each day. I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip to Rome.

Room Tip: If you have a room on the front of the hotel, you may get some street noise, particularly on Friday...

We were in Rome in September. Initally I was disappointed with the lobby and no common rooms at this very small and hotel. Then after complaining about our small room (small for Europe) , the next night they found us a larger and nicer room which was very nice and comfortable. There was only a clerk at the desk and and he was helpful and gave us directions and suggestions. The breakfast was great! The roof top bar/lounge was fabulous. The location was the best! Close( 5-15 minute walk) to most all of the main sites. I would recommend this hotel but not a small room. I have no photo to share of this hotel except for the rooftop. No luxury but clean and a great location.

Room Tip: I would call in advance and talk about the room.

Our first trip to Rome (3 day stay after a 12 day Med.cruise) so we weren't sure what to expect. This hotel was recomended by our travel agent who we gave some parameters.A little surprised when we had to leave our key with the front desk on leaving but hey "when in Rome".We were quickly amazed how close everrything was , tons of sidewalk cafes and no problem with language.Rooftop breakfast was more than adequate. We would definitely return to this property.

October 19, 20, and 21 we stayed in Hotel Albergo Cesari in Rome. The hotel is located immediately off the Via del Corso near the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps; it is about a 15 minute walk from the Colliseum. Our room was not large but comfortable. Our bathroom had a shower and was ample in size. The only drawback was that the air conditioning had been shut off probably because of it being October and this made the room awfully warm and stuffy. Sleeping with the windows open was not an option because of all the outside traffic and city noise. Our room was also located under the breakfast and bar area on the roof and when the dishwasher was running it made a lot of noise in our room. They let us change rooms but this one was in the same area opposite our first room, and we could still hear the dishwasher run. The breakfast was typical for Europe and it was fine with a good variety of foods. We loved sitting on the terrace at night and drink some wine. We had free wifi in the room. The staff of the hotel was very nice and helpful. Because of its location and the reasonable price we would stay in this hotel again.

The hotel is in a fantastic location and has some old italy charm about it. The coffee shop and bar across the lane from the front door of the hotel are fantastic and frequented by the locals which is always a great sign. We had a lovely spacious room with views to the piazza. The bed was ancient with a poorly sprung mattress but we slept OK. The bathroom is very basic but this is the old part of Rome.

There is a great rooftop terrace which is groovy and modern with fabulous views and lovely table and lounge seating, but beware it is very pricey and the barman is an 'old hand'. So always enquire as the size of the alcohol serve and check the cost, indeed watch him pour the drinks. Also always check the wine list and price - the cheapest white bottle is 20 euro which is fine.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room on an upper level overlooking the Piazza.

As others have said, you can't beat the location. It's within walking distance of most of the major sites. It's so nice to walk out of the hotel and within seconds be walking down very pretty streets and minutes away from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.

The rooms are also beautiful. I had a superior single (room 44) and although initially disappointed at having a single bed (yes, I know the clue is in the title ...) I was very happy after my first, very comfortable night's sleep. The room was very spacious, individual and slightly quirky. I stayed for three nights and could easily have stayed for much longer. It's not super modern (not a modern bathroom and no flat screen TV), but the charm of the room more than made up for this.

The breakfast on the roof terrace was nice, but in my opinion not quite as wonderful as so many reviews make out on here. It is a continental breakfast of bread, cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt and pastries - all of which were perfectly respectable. After reading one of the reviews on here, I knew I could order cappuccino with my breakfast, which was very nice.

The only annoyances were that the lift was fairly regularly out of order, and - as someone else said on here - the hotel can smell a bit of smoke at times. (It seems that many of the rooms are smoking rooms.)

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
