My friends chose this hotel as part of the Starwood points system and they stayed there for 4 days. I thought their room was lovely, clean and elegantly appointed. I did not stay there but I ate and drank there for 3 days as it was the jumping off and return point for our tours. We had coffee, dessert, cocktails, snacks, during all parts of the day and night. The building itself is lovely and there were no missteps in it's decor and grandeur.

Where it falls flat for me is the fact that there is so much waitstaff rushing around but then disappearing. You must flag them down for service and then the wait for the returned drinks is long. We NEVER were asked if we wanted another round of drinks or coffee or aperitifs which we would have gladly ordered could we ever find our waiters after the initial order was delivered. I could have said it was an anomaly except it happened every day. Two times we never saw our waiter again and had to flag down another waiter to find us a check and pay him. Not one waiter made eye contact. One time, they delivered a soda to my friend's 8 year old son in a wine glass. He picked it up and when putting it down dropped it and it crashed on the coffee table we were sitting at. The staff came with radios, managers came and inspected the table, well dressed man after well dressed man came to survey the damage but never acknowledged or spoke to us. Finally a porter came and cleaned it up. They charged us the 5 euro for the soda, ($8), not that he got another one. Maybe all those people concerned with one broken glass should pay attention to the lack of service instead?

We greatly respect your comments although you did not reside at the St. Regis Hotel. There is no doubt that your experience at Le Grand Bar is not a fair reflection of the standards and values of the St. Regis brand and we are truly sorry that more attention has been given to the safety aspects instead of taking care of your young friend and replacing the glass of soda. Allow us to mention that next to Le Grand Bar, we have set up a play room with refreshments that is completely free of charge. It is available daily from h. 11.00 to h. 08.00 pm during the summer time to entertain the youngest guests while their parents enjoy a moment of relax.
Please be assured that we will take the necessary measures with the staff & management to ensure a different approach in the future and we would be delighted, since you appreciated the style and decor of the hotel to have an opportunity display the best of our hospitality in the future.
Sincerely yours,
The Hotel Manager

There was no obvious St. Regis sign but the wall sign was still LE GRAND HOTEL.
It was confusing and it should be updated.
If you have a heavy suitcase it is better to take a taxi.
The ground is very rough between the Central station and the hotel.
There are no slope, elevator or escalator at the Metro, Repubblica staton.
My husband stayed for 3 nights for our anniversary at the room #205.
It was a very hot day but the room was not ready when we arried in the afternoon
after a long flight from westcoast via JFK.
We were exhausted but we needed to wait for more than 2 hours and they didn't offer us even a bottle of cold water or cold drinks in the lobby lounge.
So we went out for getting some water and lunch.
My husband and I are both Starwood gold elite members but our keys were in the Prefered guest case when we checked in.
The bathtub was very small and I didn't feel comfortable.
The chandelier was cracked and the room was very dusty. We needed to call for cleaning after we checked in. We also tried to order some tea for room service 5 times but no one answered.
We understand if the line is too busy sometimes but they should have returned a call later at least. There are a lot of hotels in Rome. We will remove this hotel from our list.

Room Tip: The courtyard facing view room is quiet.

Dear Guest,
It is most regrettable that your stay with your husband did not live up to your expectations and that your Gold status as Starwood Preferred Guest was not appropriately recognized in occasion of your visit. We are especially sorry by the service inconsistency you experienced both in housekeeping and in-room dining telephone etiquette. We will not try to find a justification, but please know that your comments will not go unheard and we will direct our efforts on both areas to ensure that the flawless and dedicated service for which the St. Regis brand is renowned worldwide is respected at all times.
As a valuable SPG Guest, it is our hope that you will reconsider your decision not to return to our hotel; please feel free to contact us at any time if there is anything that we can do to let you change your mind.
Best regards,
The Hotel Manager

My husband and I booked this hotel using SPG points. We were given a standard room which was very comfortable and spacious. Beautiful furnishings, lovely king size bed which is somewhat difficult to find in Italy, plush decor and furnishings, fast internet connection, two complimentary bottles of water each day, very nice Westin bedding, and a turn down service each night. We did not eat in the hotel as we preferred to find traditional Italian food. However, we were offered tea and coffee with cookies when we arrived and our room was not yet ready. Lovely and a nice touch for us. Room has both a tub and a shower, plush towels, good water pressure, and robe/slippers. Located near Metro line A just one stop away from the Roma Termini train station. You really can take the metro from the train station and then walk the one block to the hotel. A cab will run you about 15 euros and will likely be more comfortable.

Just arrived after a 3 night stay. The hotel decor is splendid, and very grand. The staff were the best we have in counted , however I would disagree with previous comments with regard to the location, to be honest, the area is a little run down, and a pre /post dinner stroll is not that enchanting! Although the hotel decor is absolutely splendid, the bar and lounge area is rather soulless. Apart from that a great visit, and amazing city.

Dear Guest,
We are delighted that you appreciated the hotel prestigious heritage and the staff commitment to bespoke service. It is a pity, however, that your experience at Le Grand bar was disappointing and we are sorry that you missed our evening ritual, the Champagne Sabering in the best of the St. Regis hospitality, with live piano music. Whilst it is true that the mix of clientele may influence the main lobby area and bar activities, we regret that you could not enjoy the discreet but usually intense atmosphere of what it is consider a historical landmark for both roman residents and visitors.
It would be our great pleasure to welcome you back and take good care of every aspect of your stay on you next visit to the Eternal City.
Sincerely yours,
The Hotel Manager

Just returned from a three night stay at this beautiful property. It is old world elegance. The service was impeccable, and the room beautiful. The bathroom was very small, but the staff were very nice, helpful and courteous. They went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed the convenience to sightseeing and restaurants as it is centrally located.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a bigger bathroom

This hotel has it all---beautiful public rooms and guest rooms enhanced by an efficient and friendly staff who go the extra mile for their guests. Well worth the money. I'd put it at the top of the list of luxury hotels that I have visited over the years.

What a fantastic hotel!!! Well positioned and in walking distance to most of the sights and shopping areas. Room was well maintained and beautifully furnished. Staff are extremely obliging and courteous. The concierge recommended a great restaurant nearby and generally very helpful with whatever information we needed.
Highly recommended...
