“Very pleasant”
Reviewed January 19, 2008

Overall impression - it is a very pleasant hotel.

Hotel - The hotel was recently renovated to show its original decor. We particulary liked the area where the breakfast is served and the ball room. Note the ceilings in both rooms, stairs in the lobby and old elevator (hidden in the back of the hotel).

Room - We stayed in Deluxe room which was spacious, but cozy with a very nice marble bathroom. The room was clean.

Service -The bar and restaurant downstairs were excellent, roomservice was nothing more than one would expect in a hotel of such class, the consierge service was impeccable and helped us quickly and efficiently with all our requests. We liked the breakfast. Perhaps, the only thing that I did not like is that the service lacked some personal touch, but at the end of the day it is a big hotel (not a family run boutique) which is a part of international chain and I guess there is no room for that there.

Location - not too close to Termini to get all the problems (noise, crowds) that usually associated with train stations, but still a walking distance and if you arrive with a train and the luggage is not a problem then you could probably get to the hotel by foot in 10 min. Metro station is 1 min. walk from the hotel, the fact which we liked a lot. And if you prefer walking you could get to Via Veneto in 10 min, to Spanish Steps in 20 min, and to Palazzo Venezia in 30 min. And if you are tired - take a taxi!!! They are good and cheap - 5-6 Euro to the hotel from almost anywhere in the central Rome. Finally, the hotel is in a perfect location - it is surrounder by Rome - one of the best places on Earth)))

The St, Regis Rome represents true class and elegance. It realy was amazing, the decor is beautiful and the service is second to none. The only complaint a tourist might have would be location as it's located near the Piazza de Republica and a good 20 min walk from attractions like the coloseum and the forum. All in all it's a true 5 statr hotel, and worth every penny.

We stayed at St. Regis for four nights over New Year holidays for our honeymoon along with our parents. In spite of advance notice, there was no upgrade of the room, which was acceptable given the busy time around that time. What was unacceptable was that they stood our parents up for hours in the middle of the night for broken tub without offering room change (though we asked several times) /even appologies... While we told the event to the GM/front dest next morning, no apprologies but execuses (it was super's mistake, not ours, etc.,etc.,) We used to love staying at St.Regis elsewhere in the world though big ? mark for our next crib overseas.

We stayed in St. Regis recently. One of the most expensive hotels in Rome. It does not worth the money. We stayed in a deluxe double room. Not different than a standard room in another five star hotel in Italy. Their restaurant and bar were under construction. Our room was also looking at a construction site. But the biggest problem was the concierge, they were way too rude. We feel like fighting with them for an answer to an easy question. For a rate that high you can easily find a better hotel.

We stayed at the St. Regis for 4 nights, over Christmas, and had a perfect stay. We are a family of 6 (youngest is 15); it was our first time in Rome.
The hotel was beautiful and very well-kept. Upon our arrival at 9 AM, both of our rooms were already available and we were upgraded from 1 deluxe/1 imperial to 2 imperial rooms at no extra charge. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and shutters kept out most of the street noise. The rooms were a classic style but the conveniences, like the TV/DVD/CD player, were modern. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, as were the cots. There was plenty of space for the king bed, cot, couch and the other tables and furniture that were in the room and that made it quite comfortable.
What made our stay so wonderful was the service: prompt, friendly and knowledgeable without fail each time. The restaurant recommendations, room service, butler service-- all stellar. We even requested a DVD in English that was brought to us almost immediately and at no charge. The extra touches, like Christmas gifts left at turn-down service, made our stay very special.
Though the location wasn't as ideal as other hotels we considered, we found it quick and easy (and fun) to walk many of the tourist spots (Spanish Steps, the Forum, the Pantheon and Trevi Foundation). We even walked to back the hotel from the Vatican after Midnight Mass at 2am!
Booking through the Starwood 800 number was very easy, though the booking was in dollars and we were hurt by the exchange rate upon check-out (total was in euros).
We had a few miscellaneous charges on our bill that weren't on our confirmation that, when addressed, were removed.
The breakfast buffet was ample and delicious, and service was excellent.
We only dined once at the hotel for lunch. It took a very long time for our food to arrive; the meals were average in quality and very overpriced.
Recommended to anyone who can afford it! The excellent service is worth the less-central location.

The St. Regis Grand Hotel, also known as "Le Grand Hotel" is one of the oldest, most luxurious hotels in Rome. As we arrived mid morning, there was a short wait for our suite, yet we passed the time in the invitingly warm, yet formal lobby that also serves as a breakfast area and bar on the level that several steps above. Enjoying a pot of coffee and a basket of breads (11 Euros each), we bypassed the buffet breakfast (48 Euros). Note that although they tend to steer you toward the buffet, there is a lovely a la carte menu available also. Our room/suite was ready in no time and we were treated to one of the many themed rooms with a sitting area and beautifully appointed marble bathroom complete with walk-in shower, separate bathtub, heated towel bar and bidet amenities. Our two closets handled the week's worth of clothes and shoes easily. The fitness center isn't huge but complete with treadmills, an elliptical, bicycles and free weights. complimentary water and fruit was a nice touch. The art and the history of this hotel are a study in themselves. The service is impeccable, the rooms spacious and comfortable--we highly recommend the most outstanding hotel in Rome!

I recently returned from a trip to Italy. While in Rome, I stayed at the St. Regis Grand. I was so happy with the hotel that I decided to share a review-which I have never done before. The hotel rooms are beautiful and luxurious. I saw a total of three different rooms in the time I was in Rome, and all were visually stunning. Where do they get that white down comforter ??? It is the biggest, thickest down conforter I have ever seen. The pillows are down as well. All white. It is heavenly. Beds and rooms are made up twice a day. Complimentary chocolates and waters every day. Bathroom has separate stall shower and tub.
The hotel has the highest level of non-snobby service of any five star hotel I have stayed at. These employees are genuinely interested in their guests having a good experience, both at the hotel and in Rome. They are efficient and good natured.
One small point, I was surprised to find that there was no high speed wireless internet available in the rooms. There is only a high speed cable which can be connected to a computer in your room for a daily charge. This was the case all throughout the hotels I stayed at in Italy, but nevertheless, a little disappointing. Overall though, an excellent experience. I envy anyone who is just about to go...

  • Liked — Oh, those beds!!! Romm decor, hotel decor, service...
  • Disliked — no in-room high speed wireless internet service
