Holiday Inn Rome - Aurelia
Ranked #624 of 1,269 Hotels in Rome
Reviewed August 3, 2012

Last week my brother and I took a trip to Europe and stopped in several places and our first city was Rome. We stayed at this Holiday Inn and several others in Europe as I am an IHG employee and got the employee discount. This hotel is quite large with lots of rooms but the room we were put in was quite small. 2 beds a tv and a closet along with the bathroom. Compared to the other hotels we stayed at this hotel room was easily the smallest of them all. The beds were comfy and were just barely long enough for us to sleep on. The tv in the hotel room didn't work except for about 5 channels while there was a tv guide that had 15-20 different channels. This didn't matter too much as we were out most of the time and just came back at night to sleep. The front desk workers were nice and helpful with trying to get on wifi but it was only available in the lobby and each day the wifi password changed. But it was enough to let us stay in contact with our family back home. Breakfast was ok, not used to the european style breakfast of cold meats boiled eggs and such other things. Bartender was nice. When we were trying to leave in a hurry to the airport the day we were leaving, there was trouble finding our luggage and a worker had to be called down to find our bags but that was taken care of fairly quick once the gentleman got down to the lobby. I didn't like the location of the hotel, off the highway on the opposite side and there is almost no room to walk to the hotel once you do get over. Then you have a walk up a drive and hill that is quite bothersome. That wold be my main complaint is the location of the hotel. View is nice once you get up to the hotel and in your room but getting up the hill and down with luggage doesn't work for me.

After a 2 week family holiday in Tuscany we drove (in our hire car) to stay here for two nights whilst we explored Rome, prior to flying back to Ireland.
The hotel is well located for this type of stay. Indeed it is heavily used by tour companies due to its car parking. Public transport in to the centre of Rome is limited from this location but the hotel operates a bus service with a couple of daily departure times.
There is a McDonalds next to the hotel and it was easy enough to get to the Airport.
We found Maximilano on reception to be excellent, with good advice and very friendly.

I stayed her on a girlie holiday and loved it so much the staff where so friendly and helpful even thoudgh it was a bit away from the city it felt safer with a great view from our window. there was also a shuttle bus supplied by the hotel to take guests to and from the city free which i thought was a great and helpful idea, the food was fantastic as there was always a selection of different foods, rooms where clean and beds very comfortable. I also loved the pool, I have told many about this hotel when they are thinking of going to Rome a great stay.

(i have selected aug 2011 as it was only choice given but i stayed in 2005)

Okay, as others have said, it' near the airport, but not much else. The pool was not available, which was HUGELY disappointing, as the one side is being renovated. This was my second stay here at this hotel. Breakfast is okay, loved the orange juice machine! The desk staff was helpful! But why would anyone have to pay for internet in a business hotel!!!??? They do have a shuttle but they really should run more stops. If you go to the historic center in the morning, no pickup until 6 at night. We finally took a cab back.

Room Tip: Make sure it's in the newly renovated side....not currently being renovated!

We stayed here 2 nights and found the hotel to be very clean (except for the stairway which had major carpet stains on the stairs) and very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and very nice. The rooms we stayed in had twin beds - some rooms had 2 twin beds and some had 3 twin beds. The beds were extremely comfortable! We ate dinner in their dining room and it was excellent! Their Margarita Pizza was delicious and large - our 2 teenage boys shared a pizza which cut the $14.00 in half, but if you have small children or light eaters 3 people could easily share a pizza. It was delicious! We would stay here again, unless we wanted to be closer to downtown Rome. It was a 15 minute ride into Rome, but that was okay for what we were doing on our trip.

As most hotels are rather out of the way, Holiday Inn Aurelia is located near a petrol station, McDonalds and a really good supermarket. We stayed 2 nights here and loved the fact that we could go supermarketing at night when there´s nothing left to do. If you are a supermarket nut like I am and Rome is your last stop before flying home, save some space in your luggage for food produce that you wont be able to resist. Breakfast is simple, as most Italian hotel. Check out is early at 10am.

This is the place to stay if you want an American type hotel in Italy and want to be near the airport.
Otherwise, don't ..it's not near anything...restaurant breakfast was ok. Pay for Internet connection.
The shuttle into Rome was very helpful , on time, convenient drop off point for walking Rome. Front desk staff was very helpful..they deal with huge crowds from tours coming into this hotel. When inRome , stay in Rome so you get the whole experience.
