“Very happy with out stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

Stayed for two nights in their double room with my brother after a 22day bus tour through Europe. Front desk staff made our stay here. They were eager and happy to help with all our questions and told us of a few more back street restaurants that were amazing. Rooms were very small. Basic European breakfast including ceareals, cold meats, fruit, cakes, toast. 150-200m from the Colloseum!

Room Tip: Ask the front desk people for lots of advice - very helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights, very comfortable hotel with a very helpful staff and only a few hundred metres from the Colosseum - very central. Bed was really comfortable and the hotel is stylish in a designer kind of way. Sometimes a bit too stylish at the expense of practicality - the bathroom looks great, but there's no way of taking a shower without soaking the whole place - poor design. Breakfast is served on a very nice roof terrace, though the breakfast itself is poor. All in all a pleasant hotel to stay in while in Rome.

A very nice minimal renovation of an old hotel .It's the ideal location for a tourist to stay in Rome feeling being in the ancient ruines of the eternal city as -if by chance you are given a front room with a window viewing the Capitolium and the fori imperiali etc...
Negative points: the poor breakfast and the impolite notice of a waiter "you have to eat only one croissant per person...." and the after a shower waters everywhere ....not only in the bathroom!!!
Reception staff very polite....

Room Tip: ask for a room with view on the Largo Cor.Ricci

We stayed here post cruise for 1 night, to do a whistle stop tour of Rome.
The hotel is clean and the staff friendly, excellent location.
We had a room with only velux windows but it was bright enough. Bathrooms as new.
There is an open air bistro right outside the hotel, which serves good food.
Staff excellent, also arranged hotel to Fuimincino transfer for 5 for e60.
The breakfast was typically continental, bread, ham, cheese, cerial, coffee, it could do with more fruit.

Day 1: Quick walk 300m from the Collesium, and the entrance to the Forum. Then spend the day strolling, walk back past the hotel to P.Venezia and down Via Del Corso to Romes main attractions. Trevi fountain, Grab some take away Piza, Admire the shops on Via Condotti, climb the Spanish steps, then have a shady walk around Villa Borghese Park. Back to the Pantheon, Followed by a drink in P.Nirvona,

Day 2: We walked to P. Venezia 300m, from where you can get a bus (e1.50) to Vatican (hotel staff will mark on map exactly where bus stops, get tickets from Tabacchi next door to hotel)

Room Tip: If you really need a window (not Velux) then ask for one.

This hotel was clean, had a great working A/C, and was in an awesome location! It is right across the street from the Forum and the Colloseum. There are tons of great little restaurants to eat at within walking distance along with very cheap shops to buy cheap sodas and beers. The only cons for this place is the modern decor (the bathroom decor leads to water getting everywhere) and the internet does NOT work even half of the time. Kind of annoying when you need to contact family members.

Room Tip: Don't count on having the internet.

We just returned from a 2 week vacation in Italy, which ended with a 2 might stay at Hotel de Rome.

The hotel is in a great location, just around the corner from the Coliseum, and far enough away from the other major tourist attractions, that it is still affordable and a great home base. Everything is within walking distance and you don't feel like you're crammed into a hotel in a tiny alley like many of the hotels closer to attractions like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

It is located at a farily busy intersection, however the windows in the rooms block out ALL of the traffic noise. Our friends stayed in a hotel up the street (further away from the intersection) and they couldn't sleep at all because of the noise. So this is a MAJOR pro, in my opinion.

The room was on the smaller side, but it was clean and modern and just enough space. The A/C was cold, which was great to beat the 40C+ heat outside. The shower doesn't have a proper door, so we soaked the floor every time we took a shower.

The only cons to this hotel is that despite the 5 or 6 WiFi networks available, I was never able to connect to the internet. The front desk clerk told us that they always have problems with Apple products connecting to the networks, so if you have an iPhone, don't count on the WiFi working at all.

The other con is that despite breakfast being served on a lovely roof top terrace, the actual breakfast was TERRIBLE. Poor selection, no hot food, a huge disappointment. You're better off skipping the free breakfast and spending the 5 euro for a croissant and coffee at the cafe up the street near the chinese restaurant.

Overall, the price was right, the hotel was clean and modern, the location was great and it is a solid choice for a Roman hotel.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel de Rome. We had a good experience at this hotel; however, I would pick a hotel in a different location if we have the chance to return to Rome. de Rome is in a great location for sight seeing at the Forum and Colosseum which we did the first afternoon we were there. Otherwise, we were a pretty good walk (maybe 20-25 mins) to other major sites. We ended up taking a cab back to the hotel one evening after dinner in the Pantheon neighborhood because we were so exhausted. The area is extremely touristy and we found ourselves walking a good 10 minutes to get out of the thick of things for good dinner options (we liked the Monti neighborhood).
The hotel has an ATM right next door and a tobacco shop on the corner where we purchased our Roma passes. The hotel staff were friendly and English speaking. They gave us great dinner recommendations and even called to confirm our tour for the next day. Excellent AC in the rooms & free wireless with a good connection. The breakfast was adequate, and they let us eat early one morning when we had to leave for a tour before breakfast was actually open. This hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was that the modernly designed shower does not have a door, and even when being extremely careful, we managed to soak the bathroom floor nearly every time we showered.
