Thank you Silvia,
We did have a safe trip home and really enjoyed our Roman stay a lot! We enjoyed the excellent food tastes the most while in Rome; of course the history was amazing. Just to feel I was standing in the same spots as ancient Romans did millenniums before. The personal tours were certainly worth while to get that feeling of ancient history. John & Fran

My wife and I took a 12 day cruise and for us this was our first time in Italy. We started with 2 days in Rome before our cruise departure. After reading guide books, I realized that a private guide was our only hope to maximize what we could see in such a short time. I read the reviews of at least 2-dozen guide services on TA and sent e-mails to at least 6. I knew immediately from Silvia's response that I wanted to work with her. I outlined the parameters we had to work with - including the fact we arrived in Rome on a 7:30am flight. In short order she proposed 2 tours - day one (4 hours) to include the ancients sites, Spanish steps, and Trevi fountain and day two (5 hours) which included the Vatican, Pantheon and 4 Rivers fountain. She even helped organize "skip the line" passes for both days saving a good hour of non-productive waiting! Upon our arrival Ryan met us at our hotel and we were off as planned. Ryan filled our afternoon with insights to the history in front of us. Throw in a gelato and a Roman pizza and we knew we had our first Friend in Rome. The next day we met Silvia at the Vatican. First of all you can spend a month and not do justice to the collection of art. But we came away with an appreciation of the treasures. Sylvia set the stage and then led us through the crowds to exactly the right spots to appreciate what the Masters had done! Her knowledge and insight were incredible. She paced it to match our stamina and gave us informed options of what to see and do. So while very tired, we had seen more than we expected with the time that we had and more importantly we had two new "Friends in Rome". Thanks Silvia!

Thank you Silvia (Colosseum & Ancient City Tour) and Ennio (Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour) ! We did the Colosseum and Ancient City tour in the pouring rain - quite a challenge for any tour guide, but despite the rain and mud Silvia still managed to make this a very interesting experience. Ennio was most entertaining and had a wealth of knowledge which he gladly shared with us. With all the background and information about Roman history, culture and architecture the sights and buildings in Rome and the rest of Italy came to life for us. We now also understand the true significance of the saying that "Rome was not built in a day'! We cannot imagine our visit to Italy without these tours - we consider the experience vital and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for the manner in which the tours were conducted - it feels as if we truly have two new friends in Rome!

Having Silvia as our personal tour guide in Rome saved us hours of waiting in line. She was able to maneuver us around the large tour groups and directly to the entry gate of all the museums. She shared information about the places/art pieces that we would never have known (even if we read all the tour books!). Silvia was knowledgeable, personable and most importantly, she showed us exactly what we were after in Roma! Worth every euro!

If you are lucky enough to tour with Silvia, please tell her Emilio, Pia, Sergio and Isabella say hello!

Ennio, our guide was just fabulous. He was very informative, personable and we ( a family of 4 adults) thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days with him. We spent 4 hours in the Vatican and 3 hours in Ancient Rome.
He gave us wonderful, local recommendations of restaurants and sights.
He tied Roman history and politics to contemporary events in Europe and other parts of world. Ennio was also able to give us a good education on the Roman influence to other cultures and vice versa.
Sylvia, was wonderful with responses and helpful with suggestions in her e-mails.
We would definitely recommend using “A friend in Rome” for those looking for a well-planned trip to Italy!!
