“Perfect Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2010

After reading many glowing reviews of this Hotel, I booked it because I guessed the location would be quiet, and because it was near the Colosseum, and easy to walk back to for rests between excursions. The hotel more than lived up to the reviews. The staff always responded to emails & phone calls quickly, and graciously. There were a number of families with children and as well as couples traveling alone. I think this was one of the most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed in, and certainly the most comfortable one I have ever stayed at in Rome. Some of the really wonderful things I liked about it:
1. Clean, clean, clean
2. Good beds, but not plush, A/C. Nice bathrooms, small but comfortable rooms
3. All the important amenities: lobby wireless service, library room, tv room (as well as in room,) bar, patio, great breakfasts --also accommodated people with dietary restrictions, helpful staff
4. A warm atmosphere, friendly staff, that was pleasant to everyone, answering innumerable questions
5. The hotel is well staffed, but also very personal and unique
6. The option of eating dinner in the hotel at round tables with other guests
7. They also have a fantastic car service partner with wonderful drivers that speak English, and other languages. The service, for a trip outside of Rome is a bit expensive, but very comfortable, stress relieving, and time efficient.
8. Reasonable rates & one of the few quiet hotels in Rome

Only small complaint: - the coffee was not Italian, kind of weakish

The next time I need to stay in Rome, it will be at the Lancelot

Our experience at Hotel Lancelot was absolutely outstanding. The family-style dining provided a unique opportunity to meet and mingle with a diverse group of very interesting people from the U.K., Holland, Canada and Argentina, who helped make our stay in Rome an absolute pleasure. The location of Hotel Lancelot, the terrific staff, the accommodations, and the great dining experience makes this a hotel that we hope to visit many times in the future. Thank you to the Kahn family for being such gracious hosts.

My husband, college-age daughter and I spent a week in Rome at the Lancelot Hotel. We had a large triple room with a private patio that was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I had read some comments about the "small" bathrooms but we found ours more than adequate with great water pressure and big, fluffy towels. The best part of our experience was the warm, helpful staff who all spoke excellent English. They helped us with any request including airport pick-up, restaurant reservations, and scheduling a tour to Pompeii (which I recommend). They even went out of their way to provide us with an early breakfast on the day of our tour. We also enjoyed the beautiful public spaces available. This hotel is within view of the Colosseum, a lovely and safe area. Although it is true there is not a great deal of shopping or good restaurants close by we did find one excellent restaurant within walking distance, Ostaria Da Nerone, and ate there or in other areas of the city.

As others have said, this is an oasis. We traveled with 3 kids (ages 4,6,15) and all were happy. Family Room was comfortable for all of us, breakfast was great (contrary to other reviewers!!) and the walking distance to great pizzerias, the Colosseum AND a neighborhood farmers market could not be beat. Staff was amazing and a delight.

Mrs. Khan and staff provide a friendly gracious retreat at Hotel Lancelot. This in an "old world" hotel with nice accomodations just blocks from the Colloseum. The hotel is comfortable and filled with antiques with clean and spacious rooms reached by lift. Several peaceful parlors are provided to sit and read the many art books Mrs. Khan has provided and there is a small bar, as well. An enclosed indoor courtyard was available that our family used for get togethers before dinner. We understood it was used for dinners in fine weather and the menus looked appealing, but we did not take dinner at Hotel Lancelot. Tasty complete continental breakfast (Great cake and pastries, yogurts, fruit, cheeses, some meats and cereals) with very good coffee and brewed tea in silver urns in a nice large room. Quiet neighborhood with nice morning walks nearby to Colloseum area and two expresso bars. Be sure to visit the local churches! We took buses and taxis to other areas of Rome from two blocks away. I did walk to other areas of Rome from this hotel, but most would want a bus or taxi. Highly recommended and reasonable rates for Rome. Would stay at Hotel Lancelot again.

This is a lovely and well presented hotel in a side street close to the Colosseum. It is a quiet area and felt very safe. We had a standard room which was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The public spaces are beautifully laid out and relaxing.

The staff at the hotel, both the family owners and other staff were all friendly and attentive. The breakfast arrangements are welcoming, with round tables for sharing conversation and ideas about places to visit.

We have already recommended this hotel to friends and will return here the next time we visit Rome.

We spent two nights at The Lancelot. The staff greeted us with a very warm welcome; the room was spacious for Italy, the bed a good size and fresh, crisp linen. Light and delicious breakfast and lovely sitting areas with bar open until 10 pm.
Great shower , lift and green and perfumed leafy courtyard areas- a refuge from the craziness of Rome. Lovely quiet street, fantastic location with good restaurants and cafes nearby.
We were particularly impressed with the warmth of the staff and the great location._ 5 minutes walk to the Colosseum, very easy to catch buses and trains to anywhere in Rome and staff who could not have been more helpful. If you do stay here, and like a strong massage, ask reception to book Carmello for you!!
We were sorry to leave.
