I recently stayed for a week at the Lancelot, and have stayed there several times before. It is comfortable and very clean, with pleasant rooms. The showers are a little cramped, but well within my expectations. Pleasant staff, including the owner and her son, whom you can expect to meet while you are there. Breakfast is ample and self-serve, and dinner is a lovely three-course meal served at round tables with your traveling companions or other hotel guests. The location is great -- 5-10 minutes walk to the Colosseum and just up the street from the San Clemente church, which is a fascinating historical site. There are several sitting rooms and a good coffee bar, as well as a public terrace on an upper floor with a vire of the Colosseum and St. Peter's in the distance. Some rooms have private terraces. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you want to splurge, ask for one of the terrace rooms on the top floor. Beautiful views. Also s...

We took seminarians, faculty and friends ( a group of 40) during the period of March 17 to 23 and a smaller group of 10 stayed until March 27. The staff treated us like friends. The chef-Faris and the kitchen staff prepared excellent meals for us each night. Their dinners are spectacular. The breakfast was well done and outstanding. The hotel is very clean. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. When we came back from touring in the late afternoon it was very relaxing in the hotel lobby, library and bar area. We had a superb visit to Rome made even better by our wonderful hotel. This is my 8th stay at the Hotel Lancelot and I always feel like I'm coming home when I'm there. We find the Lancelot to be conveniently located to the bus and subway system. We really like the neighborhood where it is located.

Room Tip: We have stayed on the 1ST floor (2nd) in the Terrace Rooms. They also have a penthouse on the 6th f...

We ended a week long trip in Italy with two nights at the Hotel Lancelot. First of all I will praise the location. It is a five minute walk from the Colosseum. It also was very comfortable for us as we had a spacious quad room on the second floor with a wrap around balcony. My two teenagers appreciated having their own beds. Even my son who is just shy of six feet tall did not mind the cot-like 4th bed. So it was ideal. My family had to get used to sharing one bathroom, but we preferred sleeping in the same room. We enjoyed the included continental breakfast. The best part of our stay was the fantastic staff. They made restaurant recommendations which were good. They also kindly made sure we had a cab and called up to our room on the day of departure. Great customer service!

We had reservations else where, and arrived in Rome with our bags on our backs. late at night, in the rain. Upon arriving at our reserved hotel, we found that there was no where for us to stay! We walked the streets, getting soaked and seeking refuge. Wouldn't you know it, Lancelot was our knight in shining armor! The staff immediately relieved us of our heavy, soaked bags and took us upstairs to show us the rooms available so we could have our choice. We chose one with a view of the Colosseum and a balcony. They then brought our bags up to us so we could rest in our room. In the mornings was a wonderful variety of foods! The round tables made it fun to get to know other guests and give and receive tips of what to see and do! We had a wonderful 3 night stay here and the employees were always ready for advice or help when needed! Thank you Hotel Lancelot!

We recently spent three nights at the Lancelot with our two young adult kids. We squished into their family sized room -- one large bed and two twins. We arrived early from the train from Florence and the hotel was very gracious about having our room ready for us, which we really appreciated. In an expensive city like Rome, it was nice to have the option of staying all together. The room had good wi-fi and a lovely little terrace facing the colluseum.
I loved the vibe of the lobby, lounging areas, bar and dining room -- very gracious, comfortable and inviting without being stuffy. The staff was extremely gracious and friendly, and the breakfast was delicious -- wide array of choices. The location tucked away by the colloseum worked well for us -- Rome is of course huge and sprawling, so check out a map and consider the location when you plan your own trip.
Only criticism I would mention is the bedding: the second "twin" bed in this room is really two small for a teen -- it's more of a child's cot -- a true twin would be better and our daughter (who is not tall!!!) felt pretty squished. The pillows at the hotel were oddly lumpy and hard -- a simple fix I think travelers would appreciate. Hooks in the bathroom would be a great addition, especially when you have 4 people sharing this room. We left for the airport early on Easter Sunday as Italy changed clocks for daylight's savings time. The gentleman at the front desk Easter morning apparently forgot our wake up call, but we used an i-pad as a backup so all worked out okay -- can't really fault hotel as I think between the holiday and time change there was understandable confusion. We would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family!

Room Tip: There is one very small elevator and this is a tall building. If you don't mind stairs, you wil...

We arrived in Rome at about 7:30 a.m. after a long international flight. My bedraggled family of five was tired and hungry. We were graciously greeted, our luggage was swiftly stowed and we were welcomed into the breakfast room for the most generous breakfast of our entire stay in Italy. We continued to receive this same gracious service for our three day stay.

Our rooms were immaculate and comfortable and the staff was exceptionally accommodating~offering to make reservations, help us book day trips, etc. Breakfast is generous indeed, even our teenage son was satisfied after the plentiful spread!

We traveled with three older teens and the breakfast offered was a great savings.

The location is excellent if you're interested in the historic sights and we were able to catch the bus easily for sights farther away.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it really is superb.

Room Tip: Our kids had a courtyard room that was quieter than our street view room, but we felt our room was s...

We stayed at the Hotel Lancelot for two nights. The hotel is located on a one way street in a quiet neighborhood. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We could not have been treated any better by the fantastic staff. Arriving in the morning after a long, tiring flight, we were offered their buffet breakfast while they checked to see if our room was ready. After a delicious breakfast, we (three adults) were immediately shown to our room which was a large, comfortable, corner room with a wrap around balcony. The balcony had a small table and two chairs. After a long day of sightseeing, we relaxed on the balcony and observed life in this residual neighborhood: people walking their dogs, kids going to school, etc, We felt very safe in this neighborhood which had a variety of restaurants, shops, ATMs,and the Colosseum a couple of blocks away. There is also a small terrace on the 6th floor that anyone can use and view the Colosseum and St. Peter's dome which are especially beautiful at night.
Every morning there is a plentiful breakfast buffet with a wide variety of items to eat and drink. Each evening a 3 course meal is served with red and white wine. The dinner menu is posted in the morning and you just need to tell them that you are dining with them that evening. We ate at the hotel the first evening and it was so delicious and reasonably priced (25 euros) that we decided to dine there again the second evening. We also enjoyed eating at the round tables and meeting other travelers with who we shared our adventures. The second evening Mr. Khan joined our table and we thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Italy.
The most impressive part of our stay at this hotel was the outstanding, helpful, friendly staff. You truly felt welcomed. Every staff member spoke English and was always polite, attentive, and cheerful. They helped us call cabs, recommended sites to visit and how to get there, and gave directions to banks, restaurants, and shops. If you don't speak the language, it is really important to have a wonderful, friendly staff such as this one to help you. I can't praise them highly enough! We loved the Hotel Lancelot and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Request a corner room with a balcony or a room on the 6th floor with a terrace.
