Owner description: Located in the heart of Rome, this vibrant and elegant square is surrounded by 18th-century buildings augmented by the colorful flowers that adorn the Spanish Steps. The elegant steps by Francesco de Sanctis (1723-1726) consist of twelve flights of varying width, which descend to the scenic Franciscan Church of Trinita dei Monti.

Expected more. Tramped through the designer shop street to arrive there and wasn't that impressed, maybe when the flowering plants are in place it will look more.

Lovely views from the top but disappointed. A lot of hype and didn't really see the fuss. Nice food around the corner at al piccoho though.

Really wanted to see the Spanish steps and they didn't disappoint, more flower sellers pestering tourists here than any other attractions.

It was one of those 'when in Rome' moments. Very crowded, but a must see. It was lunctime when we arrived so this may have something to do with the crowds.

“Hanging Out at the Spanish Steps”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

My wife and I visited Rome last July. As they say, "when in Rome", and here everyone hangs out at the Spanish Steps. There's not really a whole lot to do here other than stare at the 138 steps which lead up to an attractive church with an obelisk in front of it. I suppose it does make for a nice photo op. The other site, at the bottom of the steps, is the "fountain of the ugly boat". I suppose it's one of those things you have to put on your to-do-list when visiting Rome, but don't expect too much here. Have a gelato and "take-it-easy-eh".
