Lovely piazza with great potential for a tourist: you can enter one of the most famous museums in Rome, I Capitolini, you can take lovely pictures outside and also head your way on a cul de sac towards one if the best panoramic sights if the Roman Forum

Come early in the morning to avoid the crowds and to enjoy the view and the harmony of the central square. Do not miss the views on the forum Romano. By all means visit the museum both for the art as for the view on the city from the terrace of the cafeteria.

The climb looks daunting but the steps are comfortable to walk up and the Piazza is such a harmonious environment that it really is worth it whether you are going to go ahead into the museums or not. It is splendid but restrained - a real balancing act - and there are terrific views from almost every angle, down into the forum and Via Sacra, up to Santa Maria in Aracoeli and the Victor Emmanuel monument (shortcuts to both of them too if you take the stairs to the back and left of the square with the main steps behind you).

This piazza, located next to Vittorio Emanuele monument, is not just a perfect, and perfectly lovely, square designed by Michelangelo, but if you walk past it (to either the left or right, though I prefer the right), you will get a great view of the Forum. This view is especially haunting at night if you manage to be there alone in the moonlight.

A very nice piazza fronting the Capatoline Museums and the Tabularium. The statue of Marcus Aurelius in the center of the piazza is impressive but, not as impressive as the original in the museum.
