We are a german couple and spent 5 days in Rome. We hired Sergio for 2 half days, and we had a great time with him. You know, you can read in guiding books for hours and hours, and you will get to know lots of things. But mostly they remain plain facts and numbers. With Sergio, the facts and numbers started to live somehow. It may sound funny, but he brought the past back to life. We were standing there, in the colosseum, or in the forum romanum, and listening to Sergio, I forgot the presence and the hundreds of tourists around us, and felt like 2000 years ago.... But Sergio not only told us about the past. You wonder how italian people felt with Berlusconi as their president? If they worry about the Euro crisis? Where you find a nice restaurant and the next apple store? :-) He will tell you.
We learned a lot about Rome and life in Italy, and we had so much fun. Because Sergio loves joking. So thank you for 2 unforgettable guided tours, ciao, a presto!
Saluti da Anne and Lars

Fantastic private walking tour with Sergio Grom. We hired Sergio Grom for a private tour of Rome for a day shore excursion. Sergio met us at the port and guided us onto the train from the port to Rome. We had been to Rome before so we wanted to see more local flavor. Sergio sugested and fit our requests to a tee. We used public transportation and there was a great deal of waliking but that was ok for us. He has a termendos knowledge of Art history and was constantly pointing out things that we would never have seen on a regular tour. He made reservations and guided us to a local resturant in the Jewish section that was great. At the end of our tour he saw that we were on the train back to the port. You will not go wrong with his services. --

You couldn't find a better combination of talents for a tour guide than what Lara offers. A native of Rome, with an art degree, who's father was a tour guide for 40 years! Laura provided my wife and I with two very efficient, personalized days of touring Rome. She shares her deep knowledge and understanding of Rome and the Roman Empire in a way that is clear and informative, without being over whelming. She was always timely, very accomodating to our needs and just has a cute, vibrant personality. We hope to see her again and have recommended her to friends without qualification.

My family, including two daughters, ages 16 and 20, had the privilege of having Lara as our tour guide for Rome. To say Lara was merely our guide would be a tragic understatement. She led our discovery of Rome, unveiling history and culture in a manor one could never achieve from a book or an "average" tour guide. Lara was special and our family wishes to return the gift if she ever travels to NYC with her family. Her love and passion for Rome and history flowed from every word and step. Her knowledge base was that of an accomplished historian. Her emotion for the city that she loves was transferred to my family with brilliance, enthusiasm and insight. Our family visited a number of cities in Italy during this vacation, but our visit to Rome with Lara leading our way, felt as if we were visiting with family. When my family crosses a street in NYC we remember Lara, proclaiming as Lara instructed, “Walk like a Roman”. Lara gave life and meaning to the words we now speak.

Lara provided our family with a 3 hour night walking tour of Rome during our visit in late December. She truly brought the city to life. We had been there a couple of days when we met her but, through her eyes, gained a love and appreciation of Rome that will last a lifetime. We now know the difference between Bernini and Borromini (for the record, Lara loves both but prefers the latter). She is very engaging, both with adults and children. She even has a preview tune for especially interesting information (do-do-do-dooo) that we sang throughout the rest of our Italy trip. One word of warning - she walks fast and covers a lot of ground, so bring comfortable walking shoes. We are very grateful to have met Lara and recommend her without hesitation for anyone at any age.
