Excel St Peter is located at a quite neighborhood and just 5 min walking to Basilica of St Peter. The hotel is very trendy and modern, staff service is outstanding, rooms are confortable, clean and airy. Maybe the eyeview from your window may disapoint you but the hotel remain a great choice. We'll book again if we return to Rome.

Room Tip: The hotel only has 2 floors... one for rooms and the other one to reception desk and lunch room

Great location less than a 10 minute walk to the Vatican or St. Peter's, lots of good street dining just around the corner. Clean rooms, hot showers, large towels, fantastic breakfast, good wifi connection, and a beautiful staff. Would stay there again. The 4 of us completely enjoyed our stay

I stayed here with my two children, ages 10 and 12, for 3 nights at the end of our 3-week trip around Italy.

Pros: Triple room was very comfortable with plenty of space. The bathroom was clean and also comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fresh and tasty but, as others have noted, no eggs. Great location for Vatican and Piazza Navona areas. Very new feeling and modern design. I liked the area because it wasn't very touristy and I enjoyed finding local restaurants to watch Eurocup with my kids. (Viva Italia!) We felt very safe. The hotel is two floors of a building that seems to also be residential. You have to be buzzed into the main building and there was always someone at the desk as you enter the hotel proper. Free Wi-Fi was the typical type we encountered throughout Italy, where you are given a login and password for each device and you have to re-log-in every day, but it worked without fault which is a plus. They had more TV channels than I was finding elsewhere, although they were still almost exclusively in Italian.

Cons: If you are looking to do typical Rome by foot, it's a little far, especially in the scalding summer heat. We did that part earlier in our trip and stayed closer to Trevi Fountain area, which was convenient. However, we could have stayed here and used the metro which was very nearby. It was a VERY long public commute out to Villa D'Este from here. Also, the view out our window was not impressive -- basically looking at clothes lines of laundry and other buildings. However, we didn't really care since that's not why we chose this hotel.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. We were like real Italians by the end of our trip, escaping the heat in the afternoons by hanging out in our hotel room, and this hotel provided a comfortable escape.

place really works if your visiting the vatican,3 blocks. breakfast was very good, lots of places to eat within walking distance.. tip!!!! walking away from vatican means less money... rooms are small and we had an issue with a bed for the kid... cant see how they fit the bed in anyway. But they comped me a room ( we had 2 anyway ) and my wife didnt have to listen to my snoring. which was a class act on their behalf.. this is a transit hotel only!!!
tv stations were good and overall experience was stress free, good front staff, and the breakfast girl was the best "TIP HER people" a euro per adult head....the hotel is at the bottom of an apartment and u needed to be buzzed in and walk down a corridor, no problem once u find hotel.and we liked the extra secuirty of buzzed in... also we highly recommend leonardo.capezzuoli@gmail.com as driver for pickup from and to airport or cruise ship terminal... He also knows where to stock up for booze before u get on... he's great and english is workable. have fun.... Oh ya dont bother if the aircon isnt working, its a must in most months if u want to sleep.

Room Tip: turn right walking outta hotel 1 block down is a nice cheap cafe with good food and cheap beer
