I wasn't expecting to be as blown away by the impressive awesomeness (in the very literal sense of the word) by the Colosseum.

It has become one of my all-time most amazing experiences.

Nothing prepares you for how amazing it is in person. No matter how many times you have seen it on TV or in pictures. It's still breathtakingly beautiful. Its one of those places you have to visit once in your life.

Arranged via Viator. We chose Skip the line with hotel pick up. We think the firm forgot us they were an hour late picking us up. Ten minutes after asking our hotel to ring the firm up the taxi arrived. With minutes to spare we were connected with our tour guide, who like all the other guides we have used, was very knowledgable. Glad we skipped the line again hundreds queuing. Colosseum is mind blowing in it's magnificence. Very busy but plenty of spaces to get that photo. Our guide is so passionate about the place, she was even telling people off for standing on stones and parts of the walls, good for her! The history of the place is explained well, the upkeep must be a nightmare as 40,000 people a day visit. Definitely a must when visiting Rome and a tour guide explains everything and brings the place a live.

Stunning, an amazing testament to Roman skills and engineering. Absolutely not to be missed. Roma Pass avoids the queue.

We bought a Roma pass which I think is a must. Skips so many queues! We got to the Colosseum for 5pm. Absolutely no queues- walked straight in. A pleasure to walk around as very few people inside.
