This is the best attraction in Rome! I recommend getting a guided tour. They give you a lot of new information. I had seen many documentaries on The Colosseum, but it is not the same. The tour guide can tell you, "Over here is a so-and-so," and this is what it was for. Much more detailed than all the documentaries.

I took a guided tour of the Colosseum with Walks of Italy. It was their night time tour, which SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the number of people in the Colosseum. It was awesome! At night the Colosseum is lighted, and it makes for spectacular photographs. Our tour guide was amazing, knowledgable, engaging, and shared with us the history of the Colosseum and the gladiators. The tour also included Palatine Hill and a few other sites close to the Colosseum. I highly recommend visiting the Colosseum, and especially the night tour with Walks of Italy.

We nearly didn't go inside as I was unfortunate enough to end up in a wheelchair for my trip.. So glad we did as there is a lift and the Italians are so helpful to wheelchair users, ie you do not queue up. It is just amazing inside . They are also working to restore many areas.

When in Rome this is something you quite simply can’t miss.
As one of the new seven wonders of the world it’s got to be seen. If it fits in with your schedule and budget please, please, please do a guided tour inside the colosseum. The history, the architecture and the beauty is just remarkable. I was in awe with it all, it can’t be missed.

Great place to visit. I really recommend to use a guide - this way you will be able to understand better the place and the history. If you use a private tour you may also skip the line.

As a history buff, visiting the Colosseum and appreciating its history is up there with must dos. To stop and look at the skill it took to build the Colosseum in its time is amazing. To just pause and take in the size, the history, and what people experienced there is breath taking. Be prepared to walk a lot, especially if you do a combo tour with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill!

One of the best historic buildings we have ever visited. Mesmerizing views, as you walk around let your imagination take you back to the times of the Gladiators & the horrendous massacres that took place within the walls, not a pleasant thought but spellbinding all the same.

I have been there twice, first time in May and second time in November and we always bought tickets inside and it was all ok, had to wait for 10 max. for the tickets. But maybe we were just lucky. Anyway you have to visit this place!!
