This Basilica is off the beaten path in Rome and should be included on your list of "must see basilicas" in Rome. It houses the Pope's chapel and is opulent and grand, exceeding all expectations. Mosaics of all the Popes throughout history line the great walls, even featuring a spot light on Pope Francis. It's helpful to understand the history behind this landmark prior to visiting. It even has a gift shop and restaurant with plenty of clean, well-maintained restrooms.

There is no entrance fee, and both male and female need to be appropriately covered. Visitors here were very respectful that it is a place of worship. Worth they time to sit and mediate.

Really Beautiful church and free audio guides for a donation. But not worth the 5 euro's each to view the cloister. A beautiful cloister but 20 euro's for 4 of us just not worth the money

This basilica - the Pope's cathedral - is truly magnificent. From the patterns on the floor to the gilded coffered ceiling, this is a wonder. We were especially moved by the wonderful statues of the eleven disciples and of St. Paul. This cathedral is somewhat out of the way in regard to most of the attractions in Rome, but it is definitely worth the effort to make a trip to see it.

It is one of the most important church of Rome and christianity. It is georgeous. It is a pity that you have to pay 5 euro to visit the chiostro and that the square outside the church is not well
