“San Peters little brother”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

A very beautiful church with a similar layout to San Peters. The floor in particular was nice as was the little garden.

“Beautiful, worth the trip”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

Beautiful church, stunning. My husband and I are not religious but we were hugely impressed. If you are soon to head out to Rome, add this to you itinerary!

“It's a special place”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

Beautiful and tasteful. One of those places you wish you had allocated more time. We went to the stairs across the street which were taken from Jerusalem which Christ climbed. You have to do it on your hands and knees. I passed. Bad knees. But it was still inspiring to see so many people devout enough to do it and pay 5 euros for the privilege.

I'm glad to say that even though it was a bit out of way there were quite a few folks visiting. There are many must see sights in Rome and what you actually see depends on how much time you have there. If you have 3-4 days, fit it in.

“AMAZING AMAZING CHURCH!”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

I wish more people knew about these amazing places to see in Rome.. they would be there years before they finally make it! This Basilica was one of THE most gorgeous churches I (can't still believe that I) got to go into!! So many naves - and then the holy steps across the street? This is simply mind-boggling!! To think you get to be ON the steps where Jesus was condemed to die? Thank you St Helen! wow.

“more beautiful than St Peter's?”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

if you found the baroque over the topness of Bernini's interior at St PEter's a bit much go to St John Lateran instead - still magnificent and monumental but not quite so over the top
