We had nod read nor heard about this magnificent basilika. On a day when we got a bit lost in the tram we ended up in front of it. We decided to go in and we were not disapointed. We were especially impressed by the very large statues of the 12 disciples. While we were there on a rainy day in january there weren't to many tourists but quite a few catholist men a women who prayed.

Beautiful Church. Easy to get to via metro. This is the pope's church and the church of the people of Rome.

Stunning indoor photography is possible there -- well lit at night and easy to reach via Metro, bus and tram. Road construction in the area is a little unsightly. Maybe just because of the off season.
