“At Home in Trastevere”
Reviewed October 13, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Let's start with the bottom line: This apartment worked well for us and helped to make the nine day vacation a success. We got off to a rough start because we had booked a different property offered by the same owners. Despite the fact that we had placed a deposit for it and received confirmation over a month before the rental was to start, two weeks prior to our trip we received notification that the property had been rented to another party by mistake and was no longer available. Naturally we panicked. However, the owners offered us this property and we accepted. The rest of the story worked out fine.

The apartment is a roomy two bedroom, two bath space with a fairly large living/dining area. It is on the fourth floor but a convenient elevator eases the burden. There is a small but fully equiped kithchen with a refridgerator/freezer, gas cooktop, electric oven and microwave. The living room has an adequate size flat pahel TV with cable that receives many stations - only one of which was in English.

The best part of the rental was its location. First, it is within a pleasant 10 minute walk of dozens of Trastevere bars, cafes and restaurants. Second, there are several small stores just outside the entrance to the apartment - a wonderful bakery/cafe plus a general store (for eggs, snacks, bottled drinks, etc.). Third, it is located about midway between the biggest historical attractions (Colloseum, Victoria Emmanuel, Roman Forum, Pantheon) and the Vatican area (St. Peter's Square, Basilica, Sistene Chapel). These are all in 15-30 minute walking distance, ideal for daily expeditions.

“Rodolfo's Apartment is Excellent!”

We had a wonderful stay here in early June. This is a beautiful apartment in a quiet neighborhood. If you're looking for nightlife, it's only a few blocks away.
My wife and I, and our 2 adult children stayed here. We were able to walk everywhere.(Vatican, Colosseum, Piazza Popolo, etc.). You do not need a car here. If, for some reason, you have a car, there is a secure garage about 50 meters away. They charge about 10 euros per day.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor, but there is a small elevator. It also has a washer/dryer, which made my wife happy.
I highly recommend this apartment to anybody traveling to Rome.

“Loved the apartment and the location”

We stayed for 8 nights with our adult boys (22 and 25) and had a wonderful time. Key observations.

1. It was easy to work with Rodolfo throughout the process from addressing questions, making a reservation and checking in and out.

2. The apartment is exactly as advertised. It was wonderful to have a washer/dryer and air conditioning. Plus, the apartment is on the third floor and there is a small elevator.

3. The location is wonderful. There are two grocery stores within a 5 minute walk, 2 package stores on the street and literally dozens of restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk.

4. Speaking of walking, we walked virtually everywhere. Its about a 30-35 minute walk to the Vatican and 20-25 minutes to the Pantheon. However, if you need other forms of transportation, there is taxi stand that is 5 minutes away along with the bus and tram stops.

Rome is a beautiful City and we did much sight-seeing during the day. It was great to have a nice comfortable apartment to return to at the end of each day.

“Great apartment, wonderful location - wouldn't hesitate to rent again!”

This apartment itself has everything you could need while staying in Rome - including umbrellas which we forgot to pack! Our family of four enjoyed having the space to relax after exploring the city all day. We never had an issue with any of the amenities, including the wifi. Everything worked like a charm! I'm a little confused as to another's review about the apartment being located away from the main area of Trastevere. While it is on the quieter side of the main street, which we loved, there are several restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores right there. There's a restaurant literally across the street and one at the corner. The apartment has easy access to transportation with the tram and two taxi stands right down the street, although we never used the tram or the bus. We walked everywhere - and we explored the entire city. We felt safe in this neighborhood, loved the variety of restaurants available and bars where we sat many a night and talked to the locals.

Rodolfo was easy to work with, answered all my emails in a timely fashion and met us at the apartment. It couldn't have been easier. I wouldn't hesitate to rent from Rodolfo again and would recommend him to friends and family without reservation.

“Very Nicely Equipped, Comfortable Apartment.”
Reviewed October 5, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This apartment came with all the features and amenities listed, including washer, dryer, dishwasher, a/c, cooking equipment, etc. Importantly the beds were very comfortable. There were pleasant touches such as a hairdryer in each bathroom, maps of Rome, tour books, and audio video equipment. It is definitely one of the best equipped rentals we have used over the years. It is an easy walk to the tram, buses and taxi stands.

We were disappointed in that the owner was not there to greet us as he was on his vacation, which he can't be begrudged at all. The only problem was that the person replacing him was not able to communicate well in English and seemed to have difficulty in Italian also. (Two in our group were fluent in Italian.) It may just have been that she just didn't have answers to some questions. I should say that Rodolfo was very easy to work with via e-mail in arranging the rental. I was sorry to not be able to meet him and profit from the advice and information I read he offers clients.

When we arrived, the a/c was not working. Since it was terribly hot, we were not happy and had a difficult sleep that night. Even though on vacation, Rodolfo was immediately responsive and had an electrician there the first thing in the morning. There was no problem after that, making it a huge relief to arrive home after exploring Rome. Each room has its own system and control.

Although the apartment is well situated for transportation, for us it was not what we most enjoy. I suspect we did not read carefully or did not ask the right questions. It is situated outside the main part of Trastevere where the restaurants, shops, activities are. It is perfect for people who want quiet and solitude. We prefer to be in the midst of activity and have the freedom to come and go as we please in that milieu. Our teenager missed that opportunity as he could not really go out and about whenever. It is important to consider what type of venue you prefer when selecting a place. If you want the escape from noise and activity, this is a perfect place.

One caveat: you need a phone or access to a phone to contact Rodolfo or his agent when you arrive as they are not on the property.

“A great place with a quiet location 10 mins from the heart of Rome”
Reviewed September 25, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

The apartment served us well. It was located just 4 stops from the city and was very affordable. It had all the mod cons and was very comfortable for me and my partner and 3 adult kids. The beds were comfy and the owner attentive to our requests. Supermarkets and restaurants close by so perfect for a 3 night stay.

It was a pleasure to accommodate customers who left the house so well that this home is their home away from home! All the rules of the house have been observed: it really delights to accommodate those who treat the things of others altogether! Thank you!
