Owner description: The creation of the Capitoline Museums has been traced back to 1471, when Pope Sixtus IV donated a group of bronze statues of great symbolic value to the People of Rome. The collections are closely linked to the city of Rome, and most of the exhibits come from the city itself.

“Great Museum!!”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

This is a great museum for sculptures and for the history of the Roman empire. The paintings and mosiacis are impressive.Don't miss the views of the Forum from within the Museum, they are spectacular.

“Amazing place for a rainy or sunny day - do not miss”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

To start with, it is one of the oldest museum in the world - amazing place when you can easily spend several ours wondering through corridors full of sculptures and other pieces of art from imperial Rome times. it was m 3rd or 4th visit and it is still equally amazing and beautiful ; in addition, from the gallery between two parts of the museum, there is one of the best view of Forum Romanum. I probably even prefer this place to Vatican Musem

“Bliss for the art-lover”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I am a huge art-lover and a fan of Greco-Roman culture, so this museum was my paradise. My only regret was only planning to spend a mere few hours here. I highly suggest that you spend at least half a day to a full day here. The museum is colossal (I actually got lost in it a few times) and filled with wonderful pieces of art.
