Alas, all good things must come to an end. For the past 9 years, Nuvolari has been my go-to place for a glass of wine, meeting friends, even business meetings. The atmosphere and the service were always superb. A few years ago they opened a restaurant part, which was also good, but the wine bar was unique. Sometime over the summer they changed hands, and it seems the new owners are more interested in the restaurant than the wine bar (perhaps a restaurant is more financially sound). The aperitivo is greatly restricted, there is less seating, and the place has received a makeover that has removed its neighbourhood pub feel. It's sad. Now I'm looking for a new pub.

We just happened to rent the apartment above this great place and what a Roman Gem! Traditional Roman fare, Gnocchi only on Thursday, with great service and very reasonable prices, few tourists. The service was excellent and the pasta was fresh! I can't wait to go back on our next visit. Have a drink at the bar after dinner and meet some locals.

In Borgo Pio it's particularly difficult to find a place to eat which is not overridden with tourists. We found ourselves in this area on an errand. I was thrilled to find this little osteria with the guidance of a local gentleman whom I stopped on the street and asked him for a non-tourist restaurant. He actually led me and my little boy into the restaurant, called to the wonderful (owner?) Massimo and asked if they could accommodate us so late in the afternoon... I was SO happy the answer was yes. The house wine was outstanding and the beef with guinciali and pecorino was off the charts - served with some beautifully simple green beans cooked in nothing but olive oil. I will seek out this place every time I am in Rome, it was a great dining experience with friendly and prompt service.

We went for drinks and found nice wines and cocktails on the list. Lots of locals hanging out. Kind of retro feeling. Prices were higher than expected but still reasonable, approx. 6 euros per glass.

Been to Nuvolari on several occasions.
The atmosphere is laid back, even a bit "rustico". Service is quite friendly. Great antipasti as the "bruschetta con salsiccia e olio di tartufi" and a great carbonara. Good choices of wine and more than decent prices. It's actually connected to the enoteca of the same name next door. A real osteria unspoiled given its touristic location. No small feat when talking about eating out while in town.
