Our guidebook discounted the tale of Bernini sculpting this fountain with a look of horror on one figure looking at his rival, Boromini's church, fearing that it would fall on him. The argument wasn't convincing to me, so who really knows? But Bernini's work is a real masterpiece, and it's worth seeing. Weather was the worst of the whole trip, so we didn't get to explore much of the rest of the Piazza Navona, but it looked really charming, as did the surrounding neighborhood. And, weather or not, it's not nearly as crowded as the Trevi, so don't miss it.
