We toured this site right after the Colosseum. We scanned the same printed tickets and walked right in. We used our Rick Steve's audio guide we had downloaded (free) to our phones. We were able to slow down or hurry up, depending on crowds and energy levels.

My reviews on the Roman attractions might all sound the same, all 5 stars and all worth seeing. What else can I say? You get to walk around and see where western civilization began and see how the Romans 2,000 years ago shaped our society today. Do a guided tour if you go to the Hill, you will get so much more out of it. We did and were there for about 90 minutes and learned so much. we loved it.

First off, the line is long so do yourself a favor and GET THE ROMA PASS! You can skip the line and get in for free. That pass is worth every penny. Seriously.

There are beautiful examples of what ancient Rome used to be here. You can walk freely on the grounds and even see current excavations.

There is little or no signage in the park, so you really don't know what you're looking at unless you hire one of the guides hanging out near the entrance.

The immensity and beauty of the structures back then (what is left of them) is amazing and is worth the visit.

Always imposing. Now there are added two exebitions critical of historic misrepresentations. Critical the church stress on martyrdom and the missing focus on roman humanism and statecraft. And of the corresponding fascist misuse of roman policy and symbols. Very good! Take your time!
