It's unfortunate there's not more left of this grand arena. You can see the scale of the place and walk in the path of the old chariot "racetrack". But, as many reviewers have noted, it's mostly an empty field with some ruins reclamation at one end. You have to use a little imagination and remember Ben Hur to visualize the arena and a hundred thousand people in seats around the track. Also, the wealthy watched from their porticos on the hill overlooking Circus Maximus. It's still worth checking off your must-see list, in my opinion, if for nothing else than its reputation.

There is really nothing to see here. It is essentially an oval shaped field and nothing else. I have to write 100 words to submit this review, so hopefully this sentence does it.

All you can see from the street now is a big area with grass. But just to imagine what this once was and the seating and chariot races they once had. If you didn't know what this was, you'd think it is a retention basin.

Walking by this field, I thought it was a dog park. You can kinda see the outline of a track. At least people are cleaning after their dogs.

My mistake didn't read anything about it before hand, so was surprised its just overgrown park, ok its big. Fortunately we were walking to the Mouth of truth so had to walk on it, but wouldn't go there just for it alone.
