The museum is huge on several floors and buildings so give it plenty of time to get the most out of it.
Good interpretation on the audio tour and you can plug a second headset into the unit so you do not have to rent individual units... 1 between 2 is fine :)
We thought the huge range of museum artefacts were well displayed and interpreted (Italian and English). The internal architecture is also a real delight.
The roof cafe is a delight for snacks and great coffee, the views over the city are magic!
Use the ROMA PASS here for good value, the free transportation with the Pass is also worthwhile.

You can travel to the top by elevator of walk the 320 steps - but go you must for one of the best views in the city.

This is a great place to go where the crowds are low and the art is outstanding. It is worth the trip just to see the bronze Boxer. These works by unknowns are every bit as impressive as works by the later masters.

I am so pleased to have set aside fatigue & museum burn out to visit this wonderful museum. The displays, the selection of antiquities and the informative panels make this one of the best museums I have visited anywhere - the Roman art galleries could take a note from these guys. You can take photos, talk aloud and discover much about ancient mythology, beauty and decoration. I saw better domestic panelling than in Pompeii! It is across the road from Termini and open late.

I hadn't visited this before. There were very few visitors and some of the most amazing bronze & marble sculptures, ancient works of art and other collections I have ever seen. Lots of english language translations and a beautiful building to visit. The mosaics are sumptuous and unforgettable.
