This grotesque monument obscures views of the Capitol Hill and its magnificent buildings around the Piazza Campidoglio. Whoever thought it might be a good idea!

This is a huge white marble building commemorating Victor Emmanuel II. The statue of the horseman at the front is simply massive and stunning. Go up to the terrace at the top of the building and enjoy panoramic views from there.

After visiting the Colosseum, we headed to the monument building which when we arrived they were going to close within 1 hour. So we proceeded quickly and decided to pay to go up to the top it was worth the 15-17 euros, once at the top you had the beautiful rustic look of Rome! You could see the Vatican and other buildings. It was amazing to take in the city from that view! I highly recommend going all the way up. We took beautiful pictures!

Every direction you look when you fine yourself at the Monumento a vittorio Emanuele II offers a feast for the eyes, Just go! Even if it is just to sight see. Of course there are ll the museums and exhibitions at the complex at any given time, but even without taking these into acount, just go and take in the buildings and the sculptures. Stunning.

My parents tipped us off that if you enter through the museum on the Roman Forum side and followed the stairs up you enter out onto the front balcony and around he back is a lift to the ‘penthouse’. How beautiful! Such a great view of the city and that because it is less common it could be appreciated in silence instead of the crowds bustling trying to get photos :) we enjoyed people and traffic watching from above however it does get warm as there is limited shade! True hidden gem.

Probably my favourite, iconic view in Rome. Tribute to Victor Emmanuel, king of Italy. The full glory of the structure, with its chariots atop can be seen for miles around.

The entrance is free, however if you'd like to go to the top, which is definitely worth it, you need to take the elevator, which costs six euro.

Known by many Romans as “the birthday cake” (because of its architecture), this ostentatious building is worth visiting. Entrance is free and an elevator will bring you to the fifth level where you can see a nice view of Rome. If you wish, you can pay 10 euros to go to the top, which we did not choose to do. Walking around shows just how huge this monument is. Right next to the Capitolini Museum.
