This is a great spot to view a good bit of ancient Rome. There is an elevator that takes you to the top, but it's a bit expensive. The views from the balconies surrounding the monument offer some of the best photo ops in Rome. It is also right next to a museum housing many ancient Roman statues.

This building is quite a statement. Enjoy the view on top of the building (€7.-) or a bit lower (at no costs). It provides a great view of Rome and has a nice museum inside the building.

'The Wedding Cake' or 'The Typewriter' is hard to miss, as all routes in Rome seem to lead through the Piaza Venezia and this white monster is BIG. Finished in the early 20th century to commemorate the unification of Italy, it houses a free museum ( closed when we visited ). It's worth the climb to the outside viewing area. Here we had a big surprise in that just around the corner was access to the door of the church of Santa Maria in Arecoeli. This saved a seperate climb up the 124 steps in front of the church !
Also around the side is a lift to the very top of the monument which provides wonderful views of the city with explanatory signs. Worth the cost.
It may not be the local's favourite, but it's on the 'tick list', especially with the church.

A good place to stop, rest and regroup after the foro romano...
Other than that, you can get some good shots from the upper areas within the building, and thats about it...

It really dominates its' surroundings, & is impressive to look at from most angles.

Unfortunately I didn't even know about the elevator to the top, that sounds very interesting.
