Owner description: Certainly the most famous and photographed fountain in Rome, legend has it that whoever throws a coin into the pond will return to Rome.

As mentioned by a previous reviewer, as of December 2014 Trevi Fountain is being renovated. It's completely covered by scaffolding, and the fountain has been drained. I'm sure it was lovely and will be again, but right now it isn't much to see. :(

I'm sure it is beautiful and well worth the visit. It is huge!
Sadly it was being renovated when we visited in November 14 and not much could be seen and the water was not flowing. We will be sure to reurn to see it in all it's glory when it re-opens. We were told by a local waiter that it had been closed for 8 months and will probably be closed for another 18.

covered with scaffolding, but there is a walkway through the drained fountain that gets you close to some of the statuary

A little disappointed that the fountain is under reconstruction/maintenance. Water drained, scaffolding all around the statues and such. No real great place to take a photo. There is a temporary spot to throw your coins in however it just doesn't have the same effect. Using my imagination I bet it looks beautiful at night lit up. Here's hoping I get back to Rome one day to see this fountain at it's finest.

Ps.. There are tons of shops for souvenirs and many restaurants for a bite to eat.

.
I visited the fountain in late November 2014 and was disappointed to see that it was empty and undergoing repairs. However it was still nice to see the fountain and the surrounding area.

So if you want to see the fountain with water, please check to see when it will be up and running again before your visit.
