I had visited the fountain before but my friend had not - what a disappointment. Where was that lovely flowing water that I had dipped my hands in and thrown the 'three coins' in to ensure my return? The fountain was completely closed and boarded up although you could see through the glass. Well you could see all the scaffolding around the statues - it was a great shame and I felt so sorry for all the American visitors - at least we had only travelled from England. Work has to be done but why do it in peak tourist season - could have been planned much better The area around the fountain is lovely and nice to wander around but my heart sank when I saw it was closed. Well there was a small part where you could throw coins into a container so obvious the government still wanted the income. Don't do it. .
