“One Can Do 100-Times Better Nearby”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We ate there on May 2, 2013 and I was not at all impressed, My first take on a place comes from the response to a request for "tap water"- this was our only "we don't do that" in 9 days of eating in Rome. My wife loved the pasta dish but the asparagus with egg entree was pathetic. 12 Euros for a dozen asparagus with a fried egg. I suppose the place is ok, but for the same money at the nearby Fellini Restaurant the food is about 100 times better, the atmosphere is much more attractive, the service is on a higher level and one has a true culinary experience. They also serve free tap water!!

“Excellent lunch”
Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

Just arrived in Rome and were heading for the trevi fountain. We stepped into Hostaria Rasella at 12.30 (which is very early for Rome) and we were made to feel welcome. Tasty house white wine by the glass. We enjoyed the anti-pasti and the pasta dishes. Restaurant had filled nicely by 2.00pm when we left. Would certainly go there again. Prices were reasonable for this touristy location.

“Love this restaurant”

We go to Rome every year and always go to the Hosteria Rasella. There is no attitude, no crowds, Just great food. The servers are always pleasant and no one rushes or ignores you. I love this place

“Good food for the price and fantastic atmosphere”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

On our recent trip to Rome we had dinner at Hostaria Rasella. We had our 13 month old daughter with us and she was treated like a little princess. The food was good and authentic at a very reasonable price. But the highlight was really the level of service, especially Brumilda who made it a very special evening for us. Thank you!

“Last night in Roma”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

It was my last night in Rome before heading back to the States. I used TA to find a restaurant not too far from Via Venuto. One we went to was booked, although it was only 8:00 and they had a lot of empty tables, the owner would not seat us because the tables were reserved for later in the evening. We wondered around, found a good restaurant that was on TA, but unfortuantely, they were closed. We then came about another Osteria recommended in TA, but they were booked until 9:30 and I had a 4:00 am wake up call for my flight home. Next door was the Hosteria Rasella. Not very many people were that at the time, but the menu looked good and we were hungry.

First up was the deep fried Zucchini Florets, filled with mascapone chees, basil and zucchini. It was amazing! Then we had grilled veggies and then steak with a red wine reduction sause and potatoes. We also had a really good bottle of wine, hard not to have good wine in Italy, but it was a good one.

The owner, Mario said he had owned the place for two years. He had good music playing in the background, decorated the place with soft lighting (the other place was bright and you were in a fish bowl). and a nice decor. Small, but it seemed larger with the border of mirrors. Our waiter was very kind and the service was excellent.

All in all, one of the better meals in Rome, all a a very reasonable price. It was a great way to end a 10 day vacation. Considering we had no idea what we were getting into, it was one of the better restaurants and I'm glad we stumbled on to the Hostaria Rasella.
