It' s the third time I go to this restaurant and I have to say that it's really very good. The fish is great, either the raw than the cook one. The price is correct and also the price for the wine, finally some restaurant do it, is correct.
The owner is very nice and he make sure that every thing is going well, BRAVO.

In the north of the city centre and in a residential neighbourhood, Il Golfo is a family run place with excellent seafood. It is a bit longer cab ride from the downtown core of Rome but well worth the effort.

As others have noted this is a restaurant that does not begin to fill up until after 9PM. Your first impression is that you are all alone! The ambiance is a bit sterile and the music - a steady diet of Elvis Presley, a favourite of the owner, should not put you off.

The fish is fresh and the cuisine tasty! We had sea bass cooked in a salt crust - preceded by gnochetti with shrimp and washed down by a good value bottle of Italian Sauvignon Blanc. For dessert we had the house specialty of ricotta pie cooked with strawberry jam chased by a good Vin Santo.

Attentive service made the experience enjoyable. Dinner for three came out to 50 Euros per person - good value!

We went on a slow night, only us and three or four other tables. I can't believe they are not packed at all hours. The offerings are fresh and imaginative, with little surprises at every turn. From appetizer to dessert, we felt like regulars, thanks to the warm and attentive service. We will make this a regular stop in Rome, and it's worth getting off the tourist path.

We stayed nearby for three nights eating at different local restaurant each night. This restaurant was the least rated of the three but in my opinion, better by far than the others.

The food was very good & we had an excellent waitress with very good English.

And the real bonus was that it was almost half the cost of the others without diminishing the quality.

If you are staying nearby, I strongly suggest a visit.
