Description: Back in 1954, a landlord of Amatrice opened this cellar to offer wine tastings of a very special wine produced by himself in the area of the Roman Castles. This Hostaria then became a Restaurant in the 1960s, and was managed by the sons of the owner, in the magic years of la "Dolce Vita". Soon guests from all over the world started visiting this restaurant, hence the name "Il Piccolo Mondo" (Small World). Today "Il Piccolo Mondo" offers the authentic traditional roman cuisine, with a modern twist. The restaurant's professionalism and constant desire to re-elaborate traditional ingredients shows their intention of respecting the past to create the future. The restaurant is divided into three main halls, able to host birthdays, lunches, dinners for any kind of event, always focusing on a high level of service and an extraordinary refined menu. Each menu is specifically selected and personalized by our Chef, based on the availability of the finest products of the season, and the highest quality of the ingredients. The staff of "Il Piccolo Mondo" is prepared and organized to support our Guests in the organization of their events. The staff works perfectly side by side with the Client, and will always find the perfect way to fulfill the requests and specific needs of each individual or group. We will follow you from the beginning to the end of the event. Our Chef Kristjan Kocjan, with his great experience and professionalism, he will be able to guide you through a culinary path mixing tradition and innovation. Our menu offers a range of dishes from real authentic "old" flavours to innovative mixtures, able to satisfy the most particular needs of our Guests. This food journey will take you, from the appetizer to the dessert, through an unforgettable experience for the mind and the heart.

It was decent touristy food. Nothing to rave about though. Pasta carbonara and beef sandwich (bressala) were pretty good. Panna cotta decent. Lasagna and spaghetti pomodoro also decent. We ate there twice because it was near our apartment.

“Make sure to refuse bread basket”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Food and presentation was great, but we were Overcharged 6E for bread which we did not ordered. I would give them 4, if not overcharge

“Good gluten free option”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

I need to eat gluten free and this restaurant was 2 blocks from our hotel. They definitely understand the what it means to prepare food GF. I had the cacio e pepe pasta and my wife had the carbonara. She ate GF too so we could share. We enjoyed them both. The caprese salad was good, but nothing to rave about. Service was good. Your location is on a quiet street so sitting outside was enjoyable but not much of a view of anything.

“Dinner Last Night in Rome”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

We selected this restaurant for dinner based solely on their menu and proximity to our hotel. The service was good, the food was adequate, but neither of us would probably rave about it. We each had an appetizer and first course. Pasta was good.

“tourist trap”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

overpriced. below average food. pictures on the website are not really what you get on your plate. seems like most of the dishes prepared way before and just heated prior to serving. buffalo mozzarella was a great disappointment - worse then anywhere else in Italy.
