“You can't go wrong with the gluten-free food at this restaurant”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

We ate at this restaurant four nights in a row recently - for a reason.
Their menu had a good selection of gluten-free meals for each course. We tried many of them, including pizzas, and were delighted.
Monica, the waitress, couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful, and the bill was a nice surprise too,

“Perfect for a coeliac!”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

I'm 19 and have been traveling UK and Europe for 2 months, trying to find a resturant like this. It's perfect! The GF menu has over 20 different choices, and on top of that they can adapt other dishes, and have a great selection of meat and salads.
I'm the only coeliac in my family, yet they ordered GF because it was as good, if not better, then their wheat variety. It meant meals for everyone were easy!
I can recommend the bread here. It is made by Il Tulipano and can only be described as the best GF bread I've had in Europe.
The pizza bases are incredible. The pasta (according to my sister) has the exact mouth feel as wheat pasta.
As you can probably guess we ate a lot! And enjoyed every last mouthful. Here coeliacs can be guarnanteed an amazing meal with absolute assurance of no contamination. The staff no EXACTLY what their talking about and their English is pretty good!
To all of you out their pretty hungry after a day of not finding food, go here!

“A great place in trastevere for pizza.”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

Very good thin crust pizza--I had tomato, mozzarella. Prosciutto, artichoke hearts and olives. Not too much sauce or cheese. Not sure how they would do with more complicated dishes but great for pizza. Good house red wine as well. Located in a charming piazza. Indoor and outdoor dining. For dessert head across the piazza and slightly up the hill to a terrific gelateria, Caffe de Cosimato.

“Great food, super friendly service and terrific selection for both gluten free and otherwise.”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

The title says it all. There was indoor or outdoor (sidewalk) seating. This small, casual restaurant's food was very good, but the energetic, friendly, responsive service was what made the dining experience excellent. The icing on the cake was the selection of dishes that satisfied my family's preferences given that three of five in the family are gluten free. Prices were a good value, too.

“Fantastic food, even if you're gluten free”
Reviewed June 2, 2011

My wife and two sons, ages 6 and 9, ate here a few times during our visit to Rome. It's in the Trastavere district, a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful setting and great food. Very authentic Italian, and a friendly staff. Like most places in Italy they open late for dinner, around 7:30, so make sure they're open before you go.

My wife and sons have Celiac disease, and Il Tulipano Nero had the best gluten free pizza they'd ever had (later we had an equally great GF pizza at Ciro & Sons in Florence). If we went back to Rome, I do believe we'd eat here every night!
