If you want to enjoy your time in Rome and have the full experience then "Walks Inside Rome" is your answer. Both Salvadore and Marilena were knowledgeable and prepared to provided us with an experience that exceeded our expectations. If you are going to Rome contact this family owned business instead of the commercial based tours. For more information read my other posts "Italy in January", "Grazie Roma", and "Venezia Perla dell' Adriatico".

“Tours that saw so much in a short time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

Our family of five went to Italy with another family of five. We wanted to have a tour through Rome and the Vatican. Walks Inside Rome Tours name was giving to me by an acquaintance that used them on her honeymoon. She said they were wonderful. Well she was right. Marilena took us on the Vatican tour. She was so incredible knowledgeable about the Vatican. We got in an hour earlier than everyone else and were able to see the Sistine Chapel with only a few people in it. It was breathtaking. If we didn't have the tour we would have gone in with the crowd at the door. We had six kids with us ranging from 13-27 and everyone was glued to every word. Marilena knew so much about the art, statues, tapestries, architecture, any question asked, she had the answers. We had such a great time that day. The next day started pretty early getting over to Ancient Rome. Wow another day of amazing touring. We got to see the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, Constantinople Arch and the Trevi Fountain. We covered so much ground that if we went out on our own we would have never been able to see all this in the amount of time we did. We had morning tours which worked out well for the heat of July and both days the tour guides had great recommendations for restaurants in the area, even off the beaten path. I definitely recommend them to anyone that wants to get a lot out of their tour! Have fun!

“Great tour for families!”

Our early morning Vatican tour with Katya was wonderful. Katya was so passionate about the artwork and history that she shared with us that her enthusiasm was contagious. My boys (4 & 6) were included and interested. All of my many emails with questions to arrange the tour were answered promptly and courteously by the Walks in Rome team. I highly recommend them!

“Sal is the BEST! Tours AMAZING!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

Rome was our first stop on our European vacation and we decided to hit the ground running. We traveled with our two children (ages 11 and 14) and my inlaws (mid 60s). sal was SO knowledgeable and SO accomadating to all of us. He shared history, fun facts, secrets of Rome, restaurant and gelato recommendations....We were lucky to have him for 2 days for an Ancient Rome tour and the Vatican tour. Both superb and Rme was my 11 year old's favorite...largely because of Sal! He made the city and it's history very personal for her and all of us! Even if you aren't a history buff, it's worth it to skip thelines!

“Walks Inside Rome guides are phenomenal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2012

Because of the fabulous Walks Inside Rome guides, our visit to Rome was 10 times more meaningful than it ever would have been otherwise. Sal brought Ancient Rome alive with his energetic presentation and vast knowledge of history as we toured the Colosseum, the Forum, and other sites in Rome, as well as the ancient port city of Ostia. Marilena's expertise ensured that we were among the first people of the day into the Sistine Chapel with plenty of time to take it all in before the crowds, and that we saw and learned about the most interesting works of art and artifacts in the Vatican. Had we been on our own, we would have missed most of these. Barbara and Vivianne were also wonderful. Not only are the guides knowledgeable and professional, but they are delightful, pleasant people to be around for the day. Planning to see Rome with Walks Inside Rome is absolutely worth it!
