I've been to Rome several times but until today had not visited points of interest outside the old city center. Top Bike's tour included a ride along part of the Appian Way, stops at points along the Roman Aquaducts, passes through several city parks, and included a stop at a working farm in a 16th century structure just side the city. Our tour guide Federico was knowledgeable, fun, and laid-back. The staff in the shop was very friendly and accommodating. I am glad I did this tour. This tour covers a lot of ground and is not for people who aren't in good physical condition!. This was a good day in Rome with Federico and Top Bike Tours.

TopBike Rental & Tours wanted to thank you for joining the Ancient Appian Way tour in hope it was of your liking.
We are proud to say you have helped us promoting an environmentally friendly activity that can be enriching in terms of Roman History but, also very rewarding when staying active during a holiday is sought by a growing majority.
TopBike definitely schedules tours which are different in their itineraries to suit client demand and to appreciate different aspects of Rome. These are accessible by everyone and, tour leaders are always to take into consideration each and everyone's pace so as to have a united group. However, the Ancient Appian Way tour is classified as an intermediate cycling level as its morphology presents some slopes and lasts 6h.
Therefore, our clients are more than welcome to book a private Appian Way tour (as with any of our other tours), making it possible to modificate the itinerary and stops towards their needs while enjoying their own private local guide.
We look forward to see you again in Rome for one of our tours.

My wife and 2 teenage children and I went on the 7 hour bicycle Top Bike tour of the ancient Appian Way. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, accommodating of our questions, and helped us with some great camera shots as well. The bicycles were of excellent quality and the shop helped us get all set up with seat height adjustments, helmets, and saddle bags to hold our gear. The cycling was beginner to moderate level due to some hills and some trails, but it was just right for a family with teens and our guide gave us good instructions. The stop for cheese (we skipped the wine) was also a highlight. We felt perfectly safe and it was wonderful to get out of the city to see some beautiful countryside. I highly recommend this after you see the traditional tourist sites.

I am very glad to read your family and yourself had fun joining one of TopBike's tours indeed.
I have to admit that the Ancient Appian Way Tour is very particular as it allows you to get out of the city centre and admire some different, but equally fascinating, parts of Rome while pedalling on a 2 300 year old cobble stone Roman road! Its almost hard to believe how well it has been preserved in some parts which contributes to creating some kind of magical atmosphere.
Not to mention how advanced Roman Aqueducts were in providing fresh water to the city.
I am certain your children had a memorable time and that you all were able to have a little taste of sheep cheese at the Roman farm.
We hope the service at the shop and the tour have satisfied all of you and that you will have the chance to visit other enchanting places by bicycle. Otherwise, if you do come back, let us know and we will be pleased to welcome you!

What a wonderful way to get a feel of Rome, it's streets and sights. My wife, daughter (12) and I went on this tour early in our visit in Rome. The bikes and helmets were high quality and in good shape. Our tour guide was a good director of our tour guiding us through traffic and had some good stories and history for our tour. We were on a fairly low traffic day so it could be a little more tense with younger children on a high volume day. Otherwise I liked the biking and quick stops at sights. I f you wanted you could go tour any one of them after or on another day. If you enjoy a little light exercise with your tour this is a great way to do it.

It is very nice to hear from a Canadian family group.
Especially when people come from far away, it is essential they have a good memory of the places they visited.
In this case, we are comforted to know your family and yourself experienced Rome on one of our tours. In fact, we are convinced cycling trough the Eternal City is a very enjoyable and gratifying experience, as the light effort is well worth it!
That is why we encourage families to come join our tours in order for them to truly appreciate Rome's enchanting alleys, its modern and ancient architecture whilst having fun at the same time. Our guides are always very prudent so as to gurantee your safety. In other words, with TopBike you will be in good hands! As a consequence we have welcomed a large number of families. Finally, we also provide front or rear child seats, attached to the parent's bikes, for the very young ones, so they can see the city for temselves.
Come see us again if you're in Rome for sure. We hope you had a safe flight back home.
With regards.

My husband and I (50+yrs old) arrived in Rome at midday Sunday, so were looking for something to do that afternoon as an introduction to Rome. We decided to do a Top Bike Panoramic Rome Tour, and we were so glad we did! We loved it! We rode to many of the major tourist sights of Rome, as well as some lesser known, but equally interesting ones. It was much better than being stuck in the traffic in a bus or car. Our guide was very knowledgable and passionate about Roman history, and provided a very interesting and informative commentary. He was also quite happy to stop when we wanted to take photos. The bikes were in excellent condition, and helmets, saddlebags and a bottle of water were provided. Rome traffic can be a bit hectic, but we felt quite safe as we were given clear instructions on how to ride as a group, and our guide was always vigilant about safely crossing roads etc.
We enjoyed the Panoramic Rome Tour so much we went back a couple of days later to do the 6 hr Appian Way/Aqueduct/Catacombe tour. Once again we loved it as it was a great way to see some fascinating sights and learn about the history of Rome. A couple of things to be aware of for the Appian Way Tour:** it doesn't run on Wednesdays as the Catacombs are closed for the day; **the cobblestones on the Appian Way are quite bumpy, but OK to ride if you're a competent bike rider; **lunch is provided but is quite basic: bread, pizza, cheese and wine - but it seemed appropriate for the occasion!; **there are lots of flies at the lunch stop - but hey, it is a 16th Century working farm. Regardless of these, we had a wonderful day, and would definitely do it all again! We thoroughly recommend both of the tours.
