We were a party of 4 visiting Rome for the first time and wanted to have a local show us around. From our initial contact via e-mail to actually meeting with Manuela on the morning of our first tour, everything was so easy and carefree. We booked 2 x half day tours, choosing Ancient Rome and The Vatican. We were collected at our hotel and connected with Manuela immediately. I feel sure her two tour partners would be just as knowledgeable and charming. We had pre-paid for our tour and entrance tickets and as a result we experienced no long queues. At various points along our tour route, Manuela seemed to know every shaded spot which is from where she would continue her narrative. The history lesson we received was fascinating and interesting and presented in a way which many teachers could learn from. We have never before found that 4 hours can pass by so quickly. We shall return to Rome and we will also use the services of this small but very professional and personable tour group. Grazie Mille.

On a recent trip to Italy, we were lucky enough to schedule two days with Rome with a Roman!

The first day was spent with Guerrina at the Colosseum. We can't say enough about the day... it was incredible. Guerrina was able to go well beyond the facts and tidbits you can find in any guidebook and was able to paint the picture of what it was... almost helping us forget the ruins in front of us and seeing life as it was in ancient Rome. She took her time explaining in detail exactly what we were seeing, the mystery and wonder of the accomplishments and even described the day to day practices of citizens when the Colosseum was in use. Outside of the Colosseum itself, the tour of the Palentine hills and the Roman Forum were breathtaking. The gardens, the residences... everything. A wonderful experience made incrementally better by a woman who clearly loves what she does, and so clearly loves sharing that with others.

As if the Colosseum wasn't enough, the very next day we went to the Vatican with Manuela... another experience that is not to be missed. With such a massive collection of art, she was careful to ask what we enjoyed, what we were most interested in, and then on the fly was able to navigate the city and amaze us with what we saw. Having a guide that takes their time and really helps to make the experience personal is so important. Manuela even helped us find the towns that our families came from on the massive map tapestries in the Vatican. Her English was impeccable and unfortunately, she was so good the four hours flew by!

We will be back to Italy, and when we are, we will find both Guerrina and Manuela again to help us complete our experience. Thank you both for helping create unbelievable memories!

8 of us took a tour of the Colosseum and the Vatican last week with Manuela, It was very important for us to have our children engaged during the tours on both days and Manuela did just that. She was able to explain and intrigue them during the 3 hours we were with her. The colossuem tour was great. The next day we did a tour of the sistine chapel and the Vatican. The tours were completely worth the money and I would definitely recommend Manuela.

There were three in our group. We used Rome With a Roman twice . . .once for The Vatican and then The Colosseum, Forum. The guides were quite informative and congenial. Being able to have private tours at a fair price made our visit to Rome so much more beneficial. One of our group had been to Rome previously and felt the guides made a huge difference in being able to appreciate the sites, ask questions and not spend most of your time reading a a tour book.
The guides knowledge of the facilities made moving through the crowds so much easier. Thus, we were able to spend more time appreciating and less time lost in a crowd or waiting in a line.
Rome With a Roman is highly recommended. Would we use them again on a return trip? Absolutely.

Our guide, Alesandra, did a great job. She met our small group of 4 (two couples) at the entrance to the Vatican Museum and led us through the crowds. Along the way she made our understanding of the museums and its treasures come alive. The next day she tailored out tour to the city and its historic sites. We met old and new Rome. She was so knowledgeable and entertaining. The small details and the bigger picture of Rome's history were tied together beautifully. I cannot imagine how getting around in Rome and understanding what you are seeing without her navigating us through the city.
