“Great location, very clean, safe”
Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

It's a small family owned hotel. Well maintained, clean and nice, free wifi, walking distance to Trevi, Coliseum, Spanish ste ps. The owner is very friendly. Great place to stay in Rome. Definitly recommend this hotel, will stay here again.

My family of four stayed here for four nights in July. It’s a perfect location…10 minute walk to Colosseum, 10 minutes to subway stop Cavour. There’s a grocery store right across the street and numerous restaurants right nearby. Our room was clean and perfect for my family. We also had a fridge, microwave and some dishes, which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was ok- prepackaged sweets- excellent coffee in a thermos. Fresh baked goods would have been preferred. Dealings with Francesco during booking was pleasant and he was very helpful, as was his daughters upon our arrival. Melissa even provided us with coffee early on the day of our departure and gave us some breakfast items to take with us, which was very nice of her! She arranged for our cab to FCO as well. Would stay here again- grazie!

We were shopping for a hotel in Rome and found this small place listed a number of places but all said they were full. We sent them an email and received a prompt response, followed by an exchange of messages as we asked questions. I had to tell them that we were not ready to make a decision and they offered to hold the room for us for several days while we decided. I find this kind of service to be unusual and appreciate their attention, especially since we are booking for a busy time of the year. We have not traveled yet but I thought this was worth mentioning.

My friend and I spent two weekend nights in the Hotel Ancient Rome and found it clean and comfortable and in a great location. It is a little difficult to find, so a taxi will save you wandering aimlessly through a maze of very attractive but slightly confusing streets. We had a large, clean room. The air con wasn't working the first night and so we could not sleep, but Melissa sorted it as soon as we told her about it and all was fine after that. It is an ideal spot for the budget traveller and very nice to have your own hall door keys in Rome! There is a rooftop terrace where you can have your breakfast. There is also a fridge and microwave. Many thanks to Melissa for looking after us.

Room Tip: Our room was next to the rooftop terrace and we worried that people might stay up late chatting and...

The location is great! Just down the street and a block over from the Colosseum. Walking up the street and seeing the Colosseum come in view is awesome!!! The hotel is on a little side street, but it gets quite noisy during the week with businesses nearby. The windows do a fairly good job keeping out noise. The rooms are nice and clean. The staff is very nice and helpful. The restaurant next door is good. You can walk to the Termini train station, but I would recommend taking the metro from Termini and getting off at the Cavour station which is only two blocks from the hotel. You can walk to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Pantheon from the hotel. And the Cavour metro station is easy to get to to take to the Vatican.

This place was chosen purely on reviews and I was not dissapointed. An extremely good value for money! The location was quite close to Colosseum, yet on the nice narrow old-town street. A lot of restaurants and cafeterias in the area. Everything was accessible by subway, a Colosseo station was 5-6min walk away.
We stayed there with a 5-year old child and there was plenty of room for everyone, bedding was very comfortable and the most important for me - it was clean! When it comes to B&B they are usually worn out and not as tidy but in this place the shower was basically shining :) So that made my day!
Overall it was a great place to stay, with lovely and helpful host!
