Company: 'Old town apartments' seems to be the part of the company called 'Apartments apart' (there is a different Tripadvisor page for this company, I tried to post this same review there too -thought only fair for people who are trying to gather more information about the company, but Tripadvisor would not allow it....)
At first I thought 'Old town apartments' was just one building or flat in Rome, but no, they have many apartments in Rome, and 'Apartments apart' all around the world! (that is my understanding anyways, it's all too confusing.)
On arrival, you need to pay and check in at the office. The office is close to the main station (Termini) so should not be a big problem, but beware of their "late check-in fee" (after 9pm-25euros, after midnight-35euros).
Rome office was friendly and helpful, but not the most efficient. It took me 4-5 emails and phone calls to Prague and Poland offices (yes,) just to get their working e-mail address. They short changed me on the day I checked in. I had to go back to the office the next day, but nobody was there! I left a note on a piece of paper and I quickly got a delivery of my forgotten change. So I guess they do mean well, just not efficient....

Apartment: we stayed in Donatello2 (via Urbana 33). Donatello2 is conveniently located, close to Termini, Colosseum and other attractions. Having a metro station (Cavour) so near can also be a big advantage.
Via Urbana is a lovely street where you will find many small shops, cafes and restaurants.
Donatello2 was previously reviewed as "too small for 3 people", but we (3 adults) thought it was alright. (1 double bedroom and a double bed in the living room.) The apartment was kept clean and had a certain charm. Very good heating and hot water (late December).
The big negative is the fact that the apartment is surrounded by walls and do not get ANY views or natural light. It is so dark you will not know what time of the day.
The small kitchen has a nice gas cooker, minimum essentials (pots, pan, coffee maker, toaster etc...) enough to make simple dinner and breakfast. There are no seasonings, so maybe a good idea to bring some from home specially salt and pepper.
They provide towels, also there is a washing machine in the bathroom (washing powder not provided).
We had dinner in a nearby restaurant called 'Trattoria il Tettarello' which was really nice! (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g187791-d1727978-r148516586-Trattoria_il_Tettarello-Rome_Lazio.html)

Small details: I booked the apartment with 'easytobook.com'. Booking with easytobook was straightforward and easy. They did not charge me at the time of booking, just took my card details and there was no problem. The apartment will also take your card details including the security code when you check in, I did not experience any problem there either.

Room Tip: Donatello2 might not be ideal for longer stay as it desperately lacks in natural light/views from wi...

We reserved 1 week as a part of a holiday. Great location, just off piazza del colosseum, so everyday we walked and see it. We reserved a taxi pick up service with check in in the same apartment, the taxi driver did not show up when we arrived so we have to call customer services, they sorted out quickly. Wi Fi is not included, so we pay it, bad connection, we have to reset it from time to time. Our TV set was dated, the remote did not work very well, so in this part not very pleased. Apartment tidy and clean when we arrived, the service included 1 clean room service, not complain about it.
So, overall, great location, average apartment, in our case the main door was next to the room of other flat, so we have to be careful in order not to do much noise.
Sleeps average, not quiet, expects a lot of ambulance around the area. You got a mini supermarket to buy daily bread a groceries, next door.very handy.

We stayed in the Apollo II apartment. It's on the third floor of the building and there's no lift, but if you can manage the stairs it's an excellent place to stay. The sitting room is comfortable and airy, and the kitchen has all the facilities you need. One of the bedrooms is effectively in a separate mini-apartment with its own bathroom downstairs - which is ideal if you want a little privacy. The second bedroom is a little less private as it is on a mezzanine floor above the sitting room! This wasn't a problem for us, though, and both beds were very comfortable. You can't fault the location, which is very near the Colosseum, with plenty of restaurants nearby. The metro station near the Colosseum means that the rest of Rome is also within easy reach. All in all Apollo II is a very relaxing place to stay and an excellent base from which to explore the city.

Great location, just a stones throw from the colosseum and many great local restaurants and cafes at your doorstep. Highly reccomend this facility. We are a family of five and found this venue to be more than adequate for our needs. The staff checking us in were very friendly and helpful and gave us some options for airport transport as well of indications of expected taxi fares around the city. Also provided maps and tour info. The apartments are extremely comfortable with the only drawback being the three flights of stairs that you need to climb to reach the apartment. Although this is worth it for the price and location. There is no lift so elderly and those with bad knees and such be warned. I / we all - found this apartment (loft style) very charming and well equiped. Would definately return again...

Great location, with walking distance to the Colosseum and the Metro. Two things to keep in mind are that the office to pick up the keys is at a different location, so ask the driver to wait while you sort things out or it's a half hour walk or a hike to the metro probably with all your luggage. They will gladly call a taxi but it's a half hour wait. Internet is at a additional cost and not always avalible, it's to be arranged at the office at the time of key pick up. It was only one of few apartments avalible for rent for only one night, most require at least a two day occupancy. All of us loved the flat and would gladly stay there again when visiting Rome.
