I am the husband of Love to Travel 7559. As you can see, she wrote a glowing review of the golf cart tour of Rome with Victor and his wife. Unfortunately she inadvertently hit one star instead of 5. TA has been notified to remove it but it may take several days. We wanted to make sure that everyone knew that we had an absolutely wonderful time with informative and humorous guides and saw much more than we would have seen in any other way.

We used this company to take tours from the ports of Livorno (Pisa, Florence, and Tuscan country-side), Civitavecchia (Rome), and Naples (Amalfi Coast and Pompeii). All of our tours were absolutely fantastic!! We could not have asked for a better experience!

Our tour guides were Leo (Livorno), Max (Civitavecchia), and Giovanni (Naples). All of them were great! They were very knowledgeable, professional, organized, and spoke fluent English. Our friends used this company previously (but had different guides) - they also had a great experience.

We also hired a private tour guide for Pompeii (arranged for by the company). Prior to our trip, we debated about whether or not we should do so. Eventually we decided on doing so, and did not regret it. The tour was great! The tour guide was Paola Gargiulo (Giovanni's niece). She was excellent - very knowledgeable and professional.

The best meal we ate on the trip was at Ristorante San Giovanni, high up in the mountains on the Amalfi coast. Giovanni (our tour guide) took us there. We invited him to join us for lunch, and he asked if he could order for us - we let him. Doing so was the BEST decision we made. He ordered us a fantastic meal (inclusive of water, wine, entrees, dessert, leamoncello, and coffee). The meal cost 20 euro a person (absolutely the best value for a meal that we had on the trip). This was likely a special price, as the restaurant owners knew Giovanni.

One of the great aspects of using a private tour guide is that the itineraries were highly flexible. The schedule could be adjusted on the fly to meet your families wants and needs. Also, when traveling with a group, the private tours are arguably a better value as compared to the tours offered on the cruise lines, The cruise lines charge per person, which adds up quickly when traveling with a group.

As a bonus, we were picked up directly from the ship. This is especially beneficial in relatively dangerous ports, such as Naples. The tour vans are very large and roomy, and are generally Mercedes'. In Naples, the van was also equipped with bottled water (a HUGE benefit).

After a few days in Rome, we were off to Tuscany to enjoy the fabulous countryside: lush rolling hills, sprinkled with red poppies, never ending vineyards and olive trees, relaxing in comfort, while Roberto transports you from the hectic city to the tranquility of the country. We visited Umbria, Orvieto, Pienza, Montalcino on our way to Castel Bigozzi. The views, the villages, the people, the quaint shops rendered me speechless.

While in Pienza, we enjoyed lunch at a small restaurant owned by a husband and wife. They made us feel like family, providing us with fantastic service, a fabulous selection of wine, appetizers and pasta. We spent the night at Castel Bigozzi; Amazing! Roberto has a significant network of friends, so while we were there we enjoyed a meal prepared by Lazzaro and family at Casalta Ristorante. It was SO good that we’re all still talking about it.

Beyond his captivating knowledge, he has a great personality that allows him to bring humor and flexibility to your journey. Believe it or not, you meet as perfect strangers and depart as great friends. It just doesn’t get much better! See you in May!!

I recently toured Italy with my husband and 2 teenage children. We toured from Nice to Rome for 12 days with Andreas and around Rome and south to the Amalfi coast with Roberto and his associates. We were driven door to door between our accommodation in Italy. Our drivers arrived punctually with their immaculate MB vans. They went out of their way to show us the local sights and provide a memorable experience of the local sights, the history and food. Andreas and Roberto took the trouble to phone ahead and check availability of anything we planned or hoped to do. They arranged tours with local experts, negotiated vaporetto fees and found local trattorias and restaurants along the way with outstanding food. Roberto's golf cart tour of Rome is a great way to see the sights. Their experience and local knowledge as well as their historical knowledge shone through. They entertained our children and two happy teenagers speaks volumes for their talents. I would recommend touring with this company as an outstanding, trouble free way of experiencing the regular and out of the way sights of Italy.

After a couple of days in Rome we were picked right on time at our hotel in a spotless MB van. We headed out to the Tuscan countryside for a couple of days, concluding in Florence. I should of booked a longer trip in the countryside. Florence was nice but more days out exploring the countryside with Roberto would of been better. Similar to our experience with their Rome Golf cart tour, his insight provides unique experiences at popular tourist stops and by taking you off the beaten path. You can work with them to outline a specific route or like I did choose to leverage their insight on routing the trip. One of my favorite meals of my entire trip was at a idyllic restaurant in a small village that he had brought us to. Roberto introduced us to the chef and his family, they could not have been nicer and the meal was phenomenal. It is experiences like this that make a tour with this company so highly recommended.
