“Luxury boutique hotel with a warm and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2010

my husband and i stayed in this lovely boutique hotel just steps from piazza di popolo and the spanish steps to celebrate our anniversary.. the staff were friendly, helpful and gave us excellent suggestions for 2 fabulous restaurants. the rooms were spacious, comfortable sheets (my favorite Frette brand) , comfortable mattress and pillows and on one of the most chic streets in roma.. we had a bottle of chilled champagne waiting in our room from the manager and he personally welcomed us as we checked in.. i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for high quality with a price that was much more affordable than the de russie. we loved our stay at this quaint and delightful hotel..

We were looking for a comfortable, central boutique experience. My 17 year old daughter and i lucked out with the Babuino 181. From the reception staff, Johanes and Fabiana, to the supervisor, Andrea, everyone was ready and willing to give advice on restaurants, destinations, schedules, and transportation. They were incredibly friendly and warm, making us feel that we were home. The rooms were well equipped (coffee in the room and plenty of towels), and all amenities. They helped us buy stamps for post cards, searched and printed out train schedules, called restaurants and helped sort out our cable tv. All with a friendly smile and a courteous hand. I highly recommend it to anyone; families, singles, business people and shoppers. Jennifer and Anjali Saran

We stayed for 3 nights . Loved the front desk team who are so helpful and knowledgeable.
Hard to park your car so arrive by taxi . Internet is fast and free. Quality bed and linen. Shower and bath are all like a 5 star hotel standard. Owner seems like he understands what the executive or traveller with luxury standards is after. Simple breakfast only. plenty of food and drink options near by but rome is not cheap.

We stayed here at the Babuino 181 in early June with not much information to go on and it was such a pleasant treat! The hotel is situated just a few yards from Piazza del Popolo and is in walking distance from all the major historical sites- Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon... Lots of shopping and places to eat and drink all around. Basically, we spent almost four days eating, drinking, and walking.

The room was very comfortable and decorated in a modern, Italian style and had some very thoughtful design touches not necessarily found in other hotels. It wasn't a huge room, but it was laid out pretty well. Loved the bed! It was an extremely comfortable, platform bed. The platform framed the matress an extra six or so inches, but it was cushioned so there was no fear of bumping into it. Nespresso coffee maker in the room with a full complement of coffees and teas. Free internet (and it worked!). Mounted flat screen with satellite had Italian channels, so not a lot of English channel choices, but it was fun watching reruns in Italian. Walk-in closet, with motion sensor lights. Light-blocking drapes, to include one for the door. Bathroom was very spacious and very clean. Separate tub and shower. Didn't use the tub, but it looked to be good-sized and it was very clean. The water pressure in the shower was fantastic! The toilet/bidet area had a sliding door to separate from the rest of the bathroom. There were motion sensor lights in the bathroom to act as a nightlight so there was no need to turn on the lights in the middle of the night. That was a nice design touch. Although the hotel is on a busy street, it was surprisingly quiet in the room. We did not hear other guests within the hotel.

The staff was really great- they were very attentive and friendly. They arranged our amazing Vatican tour and our car to the airport, as well as some very nice recommendations to local restaurants. There's not much of a lobby as it is very small and there is no seating, so don't expect to hang out there. However, why would we? Small glass elevator takes you to the upper floors. We arranged to have a private Vatican tour, which was organized through the hotel. Four+ hours going through the Vatican museums and getting detailed historical context (and by-passing all the lines)-- it was phenomenal.

Perhaps the one area that can use some work is the breakfast. There wasn't much of one. There was food- danishes and minimal choices of fruit, some juice and coffee. Not much choice and it did not seem that appealing. It was also an awkward arrangement, in what seemed a day room. No real table to eat at- a couch and a coffee table. There was no real reason to linger, but that did not affect our overall impression of the hotel.

We would definitely recommend this hotel!

my husband and I spent a weekend at the new luxury botique Babuino 181 in Rome to celebrate our anniversary. The location is only steps away from Piazza Popolo and the Spanish Steps which was very convienent for my shopping spree at Via Condotti! the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and even had a cold bottle of champagne chilled and waiting in our room for our arrival. The rooms were spacious and with all the amentiies you would find in your own home and much larger than most of the boutique hotels in Rome. We loved the King Size bed, frette sheets and power showers.. my husband loved the free internet and the nescafe espresso machine in our room! great hotel, great location and great value! we will recommend this to our friends who are coming to Rome for their honeymoon!
