“If it's warm don't expect air conditioning at night!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2014

Hotel is well located and good finish to the rooms. When I say good finish to the rooms, I mean the final finishing touches that you seen. In reality the walls are to thin, every time your neighbours go in and out it sounds like someone is breaking into your room!

Also the main rain shower head when on full power overflows from the drainage if you use it for more than about 5 minutes.

What tops it for me is when I am paying top money for a hotel and they refuse to turn on the air conditioning! Having asked a few different staff, the only real answer I can work out is that 'in the summer', supposedly after June, they turn the air conditioning in the rooms on, so until then you have to sleep with the windows open on a busy road with people walking and talking away. My suggestion, if you want somewhere to get a good nights sleep when it's a bit warm, don't expect this to be right for you. The lack of fans even to help in this situation reminds me how good premier inn can be at times! Still have two more nights of this to endure!! Weather forecast has been around 20 - 23 degrees in the day ...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write your first review on Trip Advisor.

I was glad to see that you enjoyed our unique location in the centre of Rome, and that you particularly liked the decor and "finishing touches"of our rooms.

Unfortunatelly at this time of the year we can experience sudden shifts in temperature and this can cause technical problems with our heating and air conditioning systems.

I have spoken to our maintenance and front desk personnel about your unfortunate inconvenience and we are working to overcome these challenges.

We also took notice of your other comments which we are addressing to further improve the Babuino 181 experience.

I hope you will stay with us again soon at one of our boutique hotels.

Please contact me directly and I will personally look after you!

Kind regards,

Alberto Moncada

Beautiful stop for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon. We were in room 101 during our stay. Overall, the room was very large and spacious- especially for Italy compared to what we are used to in the US. The bed was a large and VERY comfortable King size. Great nights sleep each night. Bathroom was beatiful with a big separate shower and nice large tub (biggest we saw). Very clean and great staff. The rooftop bar is very nice, and they also have a great breakfast in the same space each morning. The location of this hotel is great also, very close to the Metro stop at Piazza del Popolo and fabulous shopping in the surrounding streets (Chopard and Herve Leger were right aross the street from the Hotel front door).

what a lovely place to stay. rooms excellent, clean and contemporary. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location ideal for those expensive Italian designer shops on the Via Condotti (ouch!). Surrounded by restaurants and places to watch the world go by and sip a latte. Taxi from airport 48e, would suggest spending 12e more and get Babuino 181 to arrange a Merc' limo for 60e. Rome is a treat so treat yourself.
Highly recommend.

My wife and I went there for 2 nights. The location within the city is very central.
The hotel is very nice.
The standard room was small and maybe with too much furnitures for the size available (the 2 large armchairs were taking a lot of space in my opinion).
The bathroom was perfect, even if with no window.
Team is welcoming and helpful.
Services were limited due to the size of the building, but thanks to the central location you do not need more than what is available.
We were woke up on Saturday morning at 6am by the waste truck, I guess it would have happened everywhere.

The only negative point is the price : hotels in Roma are way too expensive compare to what you have in the many other cities across the world I could visit. The rate I get for an early booking with no cancelation possible was 270€ per night for a stay in late winter...
I booked another night in an hotel 2 blocks away 24h in advance, and it was much more affordable. I would do the same next time.

We have just returned from a four night stay at the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and the standard of cleanliness was superb: the quality of the (modern) furnishings is quite excellent. The bed was large and comfortable, with a mattress about a foot deep. Our room was not large, but it was perfectly adequate for purpose and provided a welcome escape from the madness of Via Babuino. It is clear that the (private) owner spared no expense in the hotel's construction. The rooftop bar should not be missed. It is currently open only to hotel guests and provides a superb extra space, which is never crowded. Its manager, Dragosh, was wonderfully welcoming and convivial. Staying here is not a gamble!

A business traveler submits this Review, and who also considers the review to apply equally to using the Babuino 181 Hotel either for business and / or tourist purposes.

Many readers of this review are familiar with simply trying-out a restaurant or hotel for the first time, or perhaps visiting a certain location on-a-whim, and then…almost if by accident...everything is found to be unexpectedly perfect – in fact, so very perfect, that you may selfishly hope that nobody else makes the same discovery so that what you have discovered will not become “ruined” for you later-on. This is the sense that a traveler will have about Babuino 181 Hotel in Rome, Italy; however, putting selfish impulses aside, this Review is shared with you.

Either walking or driving (or riding in taxi), and particularly during the fast-paced environment of customary Rome business hours, one can easily pass-by this hotel un-noticed. Please make sure that this does not happen, and you will be handsomely rewarded.

It becomes obvious to the Babuino 181 Hotel guest that this hotel caters to an international clientele. The ambience of the hotel is, as written earlier, entirely sophisticated. The interior design is contemporary and presents as influenced by Danish and Italian modern styles. The marble bathrooms are spacious, which, in-and-of-itself, makes this hotel distinguished from other hotels in Italy. Hotel linens are equivalent to any Five-Star accommodation. Electrical and mechanical installations are all well designed, modern and are all in good working order. Noteworthy is the exceptionally high-speed WiFi Internet connection. Common areas are kept immaculately clean, and the lifts are modern and equally clean. All rooms are secure, both from the hotel interior and from the street side.

The Babuino 181 Hotel guests may (as another Reviewer has written) expect the Hotel Management to address any concerns in nothing less than a promptly understanding, courteous and professional manner. The hotel Front, regardless of what time during the 24-hours that they operate, will greet you with a smile and welcoming attitude. All Front hotel representatives and service attendants are tastefully dressed and have not even one hair out-of-place…their smiles and attending manner are never, ever absent – any guest will feel like royalty here. Any request that you make, from asking directions, to requesting a wake-up call, or maybe even requesting taxi service for the next day, are all complied with and never require you to ask a “second time”. The Babuino 181 Hotel customer service is incredible, and any guest will become comforted by this and very quickly.

The Babuino 181 Hotel guests will also find immediate access to the storefronts of Italy’s finest jewelers, clothing and accessory manufacturers. All of “typical Rome tourist” sites are within walking distance. Restaurants and confection shops intermingle with the local storefronts. The hotel Front representatives are multi-lingual and the English-speaker will have absolutely no difficulty conversing with them.

Babuino 181 Hotel is, without any doubt, a “sine qua non” choice for a stay in Rome.

Our family of three returned to this hotel after a wonderful experience here last year. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in a suite across the street with a private terrace which had fabulous views. Claudia and Noura welcomed us each morning at breakfast and provided cheerful, excellent service. The location is convenient and easily within walking distance to the major sites. We will return to this hotel again!
