We went on the colosseum and forum tour with Jimmy this morning (luckily it was just me and my boyfriend on this tour) and it was without doubt the highlight of our entire trip to Italy (which has also included stays in Venice and Florence).

Jimmy is so knowledgeable and his passion for roman history really shows through, I learnt soooo much in just 2 hours.

I loved our time in the Forum and what's a bonus is that the tour ends in the colosseum, so you're free to wander once Jimmy leaves.

I only wish that we could've had Jimmy with us all holiday to share his expert knowledge. Thanks for a great morning!

We were met by Jimmy who was friendly welcoming and informative. He told us he was an art historian who had worked and now lived in Rome for some seasons and he was clearly well informed and enthusiastic about his subject. We did the Colosseum and forum tour which lasted approximately two hours. As other reviews have indicated Jimmy held the interest of our children aged 20,18 & 16yrs ( no mean feat) and time went quickly. The trick to get rapid access to these attractions is to go to the less well known Roman Forum first. All the big queues are for the Colosseum but tickets include entry to both sites. This tour does not get you quicker access than you would otherwise get if you already knew this useful detail. We joined a very short queue of approx 10 people at the Forum and were inside within 10 minutes. Bring ID as proof of age and EU citizenship to get discounted entry. ( under 18 are free,18_25yrs reduced) It did specify on the website but we had missed it that entry to the attractions were not included in the price of the tour . We were already paying €185 for 2 hrs so to add admission tickets to this made this feel very expensive. We had chosen to pay cash but Jimmy had no change with him from €200 I proffered. We would have expected to tip a guide but this left us no choice and added another €15 We did enjoy this tour but did not feel it represented good value for money and with careful planning you can get the same quick entry to the sites. The information and entertainment was good and my children would happily return for more of the same but our wallets would not take the hit a second time. If money is no object go for it and you will enjoy it. If you are on a budget think again.

This was definitely the highlight of our trip. We ended up booking a second tour after the first. They are passionate about the history art etc. It feels like a private tour the groups are so small. They also gave excellent recommendations for the best and cheapest meals we had.

Our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 children, ages 9-15) was quite the challenge, but Jimmy kept us more than interested. If my history teachers were like Jimmy, I wouldn't have chosen science as a major. Interweaving language, art, history, religion and politics, he taught us more in a 2 hour forum/colosseum tour than we learned in our 2 week vacation. (Or in our entire education) Book this tour! It will change your Rome experience.
