Description: Royal Art Cafe, situated in a marvelous setting right in front of the Coliseum, represents the perfect place for lunches and dinners, business meetings, corporate events, or just for a fun night out with your friends. The cuisine proposes meat or fish menus (a la carte or fixed-price menu), paying particular attention to the traditional Roman dishes. A long list of great desserts and Italian wines is available. The venue, situated in an historic building in the hearth of Rome, features a large roof terrace overlooking the Anfiteatro Flavio. The roof garden represents, during the summer months, the best place to enjoy a unique view of the Eternal city. Royal Art Cafe is a modern multipurpose facility that offers great entertainment. The aim is to create great guest experiences, combing a great atmosphere and traditional Italian food. During the weekends there is always something going on at Royal Art Cafe: piano bar, cabaret, DJ set etc..Open every day for lunch and dinner.

I have been many times in Rome, I often walked the Via San Giovanni towards the Colosseum and have always shunned the restaurants around the corner from Piazza del Colosseo. Most of them look like tourist traps, and the red and white checkered tablecloths scare me off already. But this time we were greeted by a very friendly employee of Royal Art Café and our group of 3 adults and 3 small children got a table on the veranda on the first floor with a stunning view of the Colosseum. Royal Art café offers more than just view. Our group enjoyed a delicious lunch, fine wine (their wine list is very clear) and the service was very friendly and very attentive towards the small children. Whenever in Italy I have ravioli for lunch and that to me is a test for the quality of the cook and the kitchen. Royal's ravioli deserves a high score.

Too exspensive, rubbish wobbley tables, beer 8 euro,s a bottle, advertise draft, not avaiable.
Food average, pasta sauce microwaved up, it was that hot it was in fear of melting the pattern on the plate.
Give this one a miss.
I gave it 2 stars just for the view

After visiting the Colosseum, we decided it was time for having lunch, and this restaurant was ofering a terrace with really nice views (the only good point of this place). After getting a table my girlfriend had to wait for 20 minutes until her beer arrived and we have to wait 45 minutes for the main dishes, and this was because I complained. The food was tasteless and the final price was expensive for the quallity that you are getting. The wine was also really bad.

We had a pleasant lunch at Royal Art Cafe. We had just finished our tour of the colosseum and were starving. The Royal Art Cafe is immediately across the street from the front of the Colosseum. We were enticed into the place by a street fellow and were escorted to a very nice veranda upstairs with a wonderful view of the colosseum itself and all the street activities. Service was attentive. We ordered wine to start, of course, followed by pizza and salads. Our meals came surprisingly quick. Both the salads and the pizza were nicely presented. While the food itself was not particularly memorable, we were satisified with the overall experience for a touristy type of place.
