“Perfect place to stay in Rome”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

First of all i would love to thank Emanuele for great service and help! We stayed in Rome for 3 nights and lived in Coliseum room (there is a big balcony where you can have breakfast in the morning or cheese with wine in the evening). Conditions are more than perfect, everything is super clean. Moreover breakfast is included (Emanuele brought it every morning). There are lots of different stuff you can try and it doesn't look like a typical breakfast (1 cup of tea and 1 cake), it's just more than that.
As for location, it's pretty close to San Giovani subway station (about 10 minutes of walking). It will take about 10-15 minutes to get to the city centre by subway (considering the fact that everything in Rome is so ancient, i.e. you can get out at any station and you won't disappoint of any view of the city). There are 2-3 supermarkets close to the hotel where you can buy whatever you want (Emanuele showed us everything on map).

Once again, to say that the hotel and Emanuele are great is nothing to say, it's just amazing!

Emanuele, I wish you a good luck! I will definitely recommend you place to my friends and thanks one more time!

Cheers from Russia!!!

Room Tip: I would recommend to stay at Colosseo room with big balcony, but anyway you can book any room and en...

We stayed at the B&B for 4 nights and had an amazing time. In our 6 weeks of traveling through Europe, Emmanuel was our favorite host. The first night after we arrived, my gf and I went out to find a restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately we got caught in freak thunderstorm while we were walking around (it actually hailed in mid July) and so we ran back to the B&B thinking we could get food delivered. Emmanuel saw us as we walked in, completely drenched and miserable, and volunteered to help us order takeout (neither of us speak Italian). When he saw that most takeout restaurants didn't deliver on Sunday he actually decided that he would cook us dinner since it was our first night in Rome, and he made us the most delicious spaghetti ever! And this was only the first night! Everything else about the B&B was wonderful. It's clean and includes breakfast and is very centrally located to all the tourist sights in Rome, but far enough away from the city center that you're not swarmed by all the tourist traps. I'd recommend this space to anyone visiting Rome!

We stayed in this b&b for 4 nights. It is a very small b&b with just 3-4 rooms in an apartment. The rooms are very clean and are fully equipped. The The balcony was nice and spacious to have a breakfast outside. The breakfast is a joke, we only got a few packaged sweet croissants picked up from a supermarket and a cup of coffee. The owner Emanuele was very helpfull in all aspects. He waited for us as we reached late in the B&b on the arrival night, explained all the attractions in Rome, the walking routes etc.

We just arrived from a 5 days trip in Roma and I just wanted to share our wonderful experience at Anfiteatro Castrense B&B!
Emmanuel, the manager is an angel! We arrived at 11am and as the previous clients left early, he managed to get the room ready for us so that we didn't have to wait to get it.
He was waiting for us and explained very nicely everything : he gave us the keys for the front door, for the light in the room....and told us he would bring himself breakfast in the morning and asked us what kind of coffe we'd like to have.
A very good start to our trip!
The B&B is located 5 / 10min away from the San Giovani metro station and 2 min away from bus station (649 will bring you directly from the Termini station)
It was our first time in Roma so we were looking for a place at the center of the city but let me tell you : the whole city is a center itself! All the places you want to visit are all over the city so there is no real "center" and if you are not afraid of walking, you can visit everything by foot (except the Vatican, but the San Giovani metro station is the same line as the one that goes to the vatican).
The B&B neighborhood is very charming and welcoming so we always felt very safe even when coming back late at night.
We stayed at the Coliseum suite and it was perfect! Emmanuel said he did a lot of renovation and you could tell by a quick view at the place. the room was vary clean and so was the terrace.
We had breakfast in the terrace and it was amazing to be in such a calm and quiet place knowing we were in the busy Roma!
I don't know what I can add to this but if you are looking for a nice place to stay and enjoy Roma, go to Anfiteatro Castrense B&B!
Again Emmanuel, merci beaucoup !

Room Tip: the Coliseum suite had the biggest terrace...perfect for a lovely breakfast!

We stayed from 29 April to 4th of may 2013.
The BB is quiet , clean and very well situated to the main attraction via Metro and not only( San Giovanni in Laterano is 5 min away). The host, Emanuele , is a very open person, helps and is very proative when you need info or advices.
We traveled as couple for a city break and we felt excellent at Anfiteatro Castrense!
We highly recommend!

This B&B is just excellent! The location is great (20mins walk to the Colosseum, 5 mins from San Giovanni underground station which leads to all the important sights if a walk there seems too long. Don't worry about not being near the main train station Termini like so many of the other B&Bs - this location is much better, Italian public transport is cheap anyway and you will also need to take the metro/bus from Termini if you for instance want to go to the Vatican cause it's about the same distance).

Emanuele told us that the B&B has been refurbished recently, so those reviews that mention a shared bathroom are out of date. Our room was lovely and clean and looked exactly like the picture on the website. Every room has its own bathroom and even a balcony - great to have breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening!! All in all it is very luxurious for a B&B!

Emanuele is super friendly and very helpful with everything. His English isn't very good which for us wasn't much of a problem cause I speak Italian-my only English speaking boyfriend would probably have been struggling a bit but Emanuele is so friendly and tries really hard so I really can't imagine that the language barrier could be a real problem for anyone!! He brings the breakfast to the room each morning, for Italian standards it is really big and consists of coffee/tea, orange juice and a selection of croissants/sweet rolls.

We highly recommend the Anfiteatro Castrense to everyone!

We loved our stay at this cute little B&B! The rooms are spacious and clean. There was no problem sharing the bathroom, which was clean and big. The B&B was quiet, even though it was full at the time we stayed at.
Loved the neighborhood, so typically Italian ;) Rocco brought us the breakfast in the room each morning and it was sufficient to start our day. Rocco & Emanuel were quite helpful with everything during our stay, even though their English is not perfect, it was easy to communicate with them. We will be back to Anfiteatro Castrense B&B, and highly recommend it to everyone!
