This was an excellent choice for our stay in Rome- like having our own apartment in the city! The cab from the train station found it easily and we were immediately greeted and provided with a tour, maps of Rome, and keys to the building- convenient for coming and going as we pleased. There were great restaurants around the area and a lot of the main attractions of Rome were within walking distance. The breakfast provided was also delicious and the staff was very nice and accommodating. When we return to Rome we will stay again!

Although we had been warned it still took some finding with no indication that we were at the right place apart from a minute brass plate next to the doorbell. But entering was like going into an old palace with secure doors, across a flagged yard and up wide stairs to the B&B itself.
We were met by a very friendly Michelle who showed us the breakfast room, gave us a map, advice on local restaurants and the wifi password before escorting us to a beautifully decorated room with lots more storage space than its "bijou" size would lead you to expect.
The location was brilliant - a narrow cobbled street leading to lots of small restaurants and cafes, 5 minutes from the Tiber in one direction and to the Piazza Navona in another.
We had an early start on our last morning so Michelle arranged for us to enjoy a nice breakfast half an hour before the standard time.

We stayed with Michelle for a few nights last summer. The accommodations are great - not a 5 star hotel, more like having a cozy studio apartment right in the heart of the city. We walked everywhere, from the colosseum to the Vatican to Trevi fountain to the steps and more. The location simply cannot be beat. Michelle is basically like having a personal tour guide on site, and will direct you to the right places, the right times, etc. We had a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to stay with her again next time we're in Rome.

My now husband and I stayed at La Maison dell Orologio twice during our trip to Italy earlier this month. Michelle was great in helping us with transportation and recommending places to eat. The rooms were very clean and really nice. We loved the location- walking distance to the Vatican city, Piazza Navona and even Trevi fountain and Spanish steps if you enjoy walking. We would absolutely stay there again in the future. My only complain- the extremely loud birds that live on the roof of the building next door and never go to sleep- but even then if you close the windows and turn on the AC you wont hear a thing.

As with so much of what we saw in Rome, La Maison exceeded our expectations. We spent 4 nights here in April 2012 - our first visit to Rome. Naturally, we wanted to see as many of the major sites as possible in the time and the superb location meant that we could walk to the Vatican, Colosseum, Capitoline Hill, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc.. We were also only a short walk from good pizzerias and restaurants. The narrow cobbled streets and old buildings in this part of the city make it very atmospheric and, when we let ourselves in through the large wooden doors of this 17th century building ( the accommodation is on the second floor), we really felt like locals. The service, attention to detail, breakfasts and accommodation here were great. We loved it!

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms here. Ours was No. 1 and it was large and comfortable with very high ceilings...
