“Just what we were looking for”
Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

Booked this in advance via e mail and glad we did. Delightful Italian meal with concise menu and specials to choose from - pasta with truffle and porcini mushroom was delicious and my wife's lobster pasta was likewise. Very friendly environment - cosy trattoria which welcomed our family and also seems to be favoured by locals. Many people turned away without reservations. Only downside was the rather limited white wine choice. Worthy of its current #8 rating.

“Excellent truffles..”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We went there on our first night in Rome. The ambience was good and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the truffle experience so much that we booked for the following Saturday dinner as well.

On both occasions, the 'special of the day' dessert (that was baked by the owner's wife) was superb. The place filled up fast, though it seems most of the diners were tourists. Those who turned up without booking were asked to come back another time.

“Just OK”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We couldn't understand the wildly positive reviews on TripAdvisor for this restaurant. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in the basement, by the kitchen and bathrooms, in what was clearly the tourist room (the main area, on the ground floor, we noticed upon leaving, seemed to be for locals).

While service was efficient, it was too eager to push more and more expensive food on us. We had a good bresola and arugula appetizer but our pastas were just ok. In fact, my carbonara is better - and I don't brag about my cooking, ever. I will say the large tables of tourists near us ordered lots of food and seemed to enjoy it.

“Recommended place,but...”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Osteria Barberini is really very good place for dining. Located few steps from tube station - Barberini and easy to find. They offer good and tasty food, nice and elegant interior and friendly and efficient staff, fluent in English and Russian. The menu is not long, varied, maybe with too many positions with truffles. There is one symptomatic phenomenon: as Osteria Berberini is highly rated in the Tripadvisor ranking,it results, that practically only foreigners there are at the tables. During my dinner, I have not seen anybody speaking Italian. Pity, because this is so melodious language.....
